............ as I suspect applying for a visa extension also is!

Our government, in one of its rare moments of logical thinking, is now extending visas and exemption stamps automatically without the need to apply. Initially the requirement was to apply in person until they realised that the Immigration Offices were being overrun with hundreds of foreigners.

Last night we had a lot of heavy rain, gardens definitely need it, we went for our walk this morning, it poured down but he were wearing appropriate clothing so all good

We had a very heavy downpour last evening also. Measured at 40mm I'm told. It was the first serious rain in our area since November last year. We definitely needed it and much more besides.

I wish.
There is an extension to the backpacker's visa available that is basically for the farm labourers picking fruit who do a certain amount of paid work in fields and farms and in return get given 6 months 'tourist' type visa to explore Australia, but my parents don't appear to qualify for this visa (it does directly relate to those stranded in Australia due to the virus but we can see so many ways that they don't qualify for it that they haven't even tried applying for it yet) it doesn't help that they are 78 & 72 yrs old...

18 deg c here, good weather considering. Mr7 doing homework via computer screen as I type. Possibly making raspberry jam today. Dropping to level 3 in 5 days time, takeaways only and some businesses opening. Butchers seem to be opening as well. Our government is playing politics with this virus. A labour government that doesn't care about small businesses. Lots are going to go broke.
I'm sweet with stuff we need here.

At least they seem to be sorting the main problem out - keeping people alive. Your death rate per 1M head of population is only 3. Ours is 255.

Strangely, when you put it that way ours doesn't sound too bad (although, of course it is). Its less than 0.03%. Or is my maths wrong?
No, your maths is quite correct, 0.0255. One of the really strange things is that the rate in India, given its population density, is only 1 death per 2M of population. That's more than 500 times less than ours.
