Thanks for the update, Windigo - stay with it. You'll get through it. Being frank for a moment, the situation you describe is one of the reasons MrsTasty and I chose not to have children.

Post when you can, vent here when you need to. We're all thinking of you.

Yes, I am child free and not looking for children of my own too. I am infertile and just to be sure my husband got sterilized last year.

But my husbands sons are 17 and 20 and when I got involved with them autism was just about their only problem. The severe mental illness of the eldest has started about a year ago so there was no way to prepare for it. But I took the risk so I accept full resposibility knowing it won't be for another 20 years.

Your stepsons are fortunate to have a stepmom who is genuinely concerned for their well being. Being a stepmom myself, I know it is not always an easy path under normal circumstances let alone dealing with all that is on your plate.

Please make sure "you" don't get lost in caring for everyone else. Take care of yourself and I am glad your family is receiving help from the healthcare system. 🙏❤️

The good news: remember when I said, at the start of this whole virus crap, that the little roadside tavern just down from our house closed up? Just got word last night that they're opening back up (for carry-out only, of course) on Friday. We'll be breaking our "no restaurant meals" rule next week to support these folks. They'd just taken it over a few months before and were doing really well when this hit, and we were afraid they closed for good. :)

The bad news: I have three days of mandatory training, 0815-1630. One hour for lunch, two 15-minute breaks, starting today. :(

Passed by Turner River on my route. It usually is 6' deep normally, but there was an alligator on the bottom, laying in a small puddle of water last week on Tuesday. Then on Thursday the river was bone dry and no gators.

I hate gators , stealthy killing machines.

They are vicious but gators and crocs are very impressive creatures.

We had them all over the place in Port Arthur, but if you wanted to see one, you had to do some serious looking. They didn't want anything to do with humans. If you sat very still and quiet near water in the marshlands, eventually some gator eyes and nostrils would poke above the water to check you out. We looked at them, they looked at us -- mutual curiosity.

I don't remember ever hearing about an alligator attack down there. You would occasionally see one in a golf-course water hazard, and once-in-a while one would end up in someone's swimming pool, but mostly, they kept to themselves.
