Today has been ordered up straight from hell, I think.
First, woke up stiff and sore from all that snow shoveling yesterday. That's ok, expected it, but it does make one generally uncomfortable and magnifies the crappiness of everything that follows.
Went to do the laundry and found an entire bottle of detergent had sh@t itself all down the wall, on top of the washer, the floor...everywhere. It was like cleaning up syrup - you can't really get it all up.
Started the washing machine, and it appears to be doing the same thing it did last month, so I've got a call for one more house visit ($70), and if it's the same thing...time for a new washer.
All that before 9AM, then I logged in for work and found that something I'd busted my azz to get done for someone else, something I'd had to work overtime for, they didn't give me all the pertinent information, so when I told them it was done, they came back with, "Oh yeah, forgot to mention I need this, this, and that as well," and the nature of the work is such that I have to start over from scratch - all because they were too stupid to tell me exactly what they wanted, and even when I'd returned the outline of what I was going to do for them, written out in very plain terms, they ok'd it and then changed it after I'd done the work. IOW, they never read my one-paragraph statement of work!
Lastly, I blew up at MrsT because, as is par for her, being the tightwad she is, after making multiple trips to the DIY store to fact-gather, get samples, talk to experts, schedule appointments, have measurers come out...now that it's actually time to go in and pick out tile, schedule work, and pay some money, she said this morning that she wanted to flush the whole thing down the toilet because of the cost.
WHAT?!?!
So I really laid into her, because she does this a lot. She hates spending money, except for vacations, and that was her argument..."I'd rather spend it on a vacation."
We've been talking for 10 years about fixing up some things after the dog died, and she was the one who started the ball rolling last month, and now, after all this effort, mainly on my part, she said, "Um...no."
She's done this with car purchases, appliance purchases, etc. She's all-in until it comes time to actually spend money.
So I let her know that in no way possible, after all this work and research, are we not getting the stuff done that we planned for, and she better figure out which one of the half-dozen piles of money she squirrels away is going to pay for it, because we're picking out tile and getting it scheduled before the end of the week. So there!
Then, I had to go get some birdseed, and got to the store (Tractor Supply) and...one register open with seven people in line, and it must have been slow retired farmer day, because every last person in front of me was about 80 and slow as crap and in the mood to chat with the cashier.
So that's been my day so far, and I don't see it getting much better.
