I guess I've been lucky. My neighbors all like me -- and I like them. Same with my previous homes. It's also kind of a Texas cultural thing -- live and let live, and mind your own business.

I'm envious of that. I don't have such nosy types in my own circle, but they're definitely a notable part of society that always complains.

When I was stationed at RAF Upper Heyford
You might have visited this pub, then...

It's The Bell in Lower Heyford. When I lived in Wolvercote (just on the north-west edge of Oxford), I used to enjoy a walk by either the nearby River Thames or Oxford Canal. On one summer day - I recall it was a Friday and I had the day off - I decided to have a wander by the canal. I got a bit carried away and ended up walking all the way to Lower Heyford. By the time I limped away from the canal, I was sorely in need of a drink and was most happy to find that The Bell was open. That kept me going enough to stroll to the station and get the train back to Oxford.

Yes! :)

A lot of guys liked to go to The Falkland Arms in Great Tew, and I'd usually oblige, and always found it to be a friendly place for a nice stop on the way home.

We went back in 2018, I think, and found it to be the opposite. Very unfriendly. A group of gentlemen gathered out front drinking and chatting away, and as soon as it was obvious we were heading to the pub, they clammed up and gave us hard stares all the way inside, and once inside (no other patrons in there), the young woman working the bar seemed a little more than displeased to have to actually serve someone.

I have a picture (probably posted here at some point) that my wife took, and I'm sitting at a table having just gotten the drinks, and I look quite miserable, just because of the crappy attitude of everyone there.

Well, the night is off to a roaring start. Tornado sirens went off -- a hook echo spotted on Doppler radar (beginning stage of a tornado) about 30 miles away. I think they sounded the sirens a bit early for Frisco. The city of Frisco is split in half by the county line. The West half is in Denton county, which is where the hook echo is, so I guess that's why the sirens also went off in East Frisco, where I live.

It has barely started raining at my house, and already we have sirens. Could be an interesting night.

So how did it go?

The hook echo had rotation, but broke up before it could fully develop into a tornado. We had a pretty good thunderstorm from that cell, with very heavy rain and some gusty winds, but that was all. More storms are predicted into late morning.

So far so good then if there was no need to go outside...

I have some incredibly problematic non problem 😐

So I take blood thinners, and because of that I have an incredibly small wound ( 2 milli metres) that keeps bleeding and has not healed for over a month. We stopped the blood thinners, still no luck because the spot is in a very difficult place. So we tried wound plasters, wound glue and all other options the doc could think of. To no avail. So now I have to pray it heals on its own this week.

Or else, they have to make a bigger wound surgically and then stitch it! All for a wound of 2 millimetres..

Now that is a big non issue.. it doesn't even hurt! Sigh, I always seem to have some kind of oddity 🤣

Shouldn't have any tornadoes tonight, but we're predicted to get wind gusts of 60mph, so I've fastened all the patio furniture down.
