Could say the same about Germany. Haven't seen anything from the politics that could raise british-german friendship.

Instead we're still showing the same arrogant behavior like with Greece, Portugal and Italy. Like we're some unbeatable genuine people, who can't end up like Greece in a couple of years.

Those of us who voted to remain in the EU kept explaining that this was the type of thing that could happen, along with the economic hit and the social issues. Of course we can take no pleasure in being proved right because we are suffering too. We have now reached the stage where the lying politicians and the right wing press who conned so many people about leaving the EU are starting to fight amongst themselves and blame each other for the utter failure of the project.
I fear we are stuck in this malaise for quite a while and it will be in at least two Prime Ministers time before the idea or rejoining the single market will be raised as all the current crop of senior MPs from both parties backed leaving.
My hope is that in the long term this bout of self inflicted harm will make Britain a little less arrogant and more realistic about its position in the World.

Brexit never made sense to me. How was the UK supposed to compete economically in a global market with the US, China, and even the EU all by itself?

I'm sure you know he's running for president again. Let's just hope he gets arrested and convicted for one or more of the multiple crimes he's committed and put an end to that rubbish.

Europe needs to worry about Trump winning in 2024 as much (or more) than we do. He's made it clear that he wants to pull the US out of NATO. As for the Ukraine, he would just give it to Putin -- a little token of his affection. Then say good bye to the Balkan countries.

Minor excitement whilst we were eating our broccoli soup today, a RAF Typhoon went supersonic somewhere near by. The cat jumped, we just thought something had fallen over an a neighbours garden.

Mt dad was an AF pilot so as a child we always lived on or near an AF base. Sonic booms were a common occurrence. I'd be startled these days though.

Mt dad was an AF pilot so as a child we always lived on or near an AF base. Sonic booms were a common occurrence. I'd be startled these days though.

Military aircraft are not allowed to go supersonic over land in the UK, except when it is operationally necessary. Supersonic training normally takes place over the North Sea.

There was a movie awhile back with Russell Crowe called Master and Commander where one of his lines was was "The lesser of two weevils". Trump and DeSantis are both creepy insects. DeSantis is smarter then Trump, which might mean he could be more dangerous.

In the US the military can and still do, though less frequently than when I was young, but civilian aircraft aren't allowed.
