Fresh air is good. I've no screens so all the bugs and critters would want in. No stopping raccoons...
Standard practice on Australia is every door and window that opens has a flyscreen mesh.

We used to leave them open in the UK as well unless it went below -9°C. We fitted the windows with flyscreen mesh on Velcro and the doors had them as well as a curtain with a large overlap parting in the middle. We lived in a swamp and hated going to sleep able to hear a midge in the bedroom with us.

I've got one one door with a velcro screen so depending on which way the wind is blowing and what time it is...
This was a homemade job in the UK. We weighted the curtain and because it was outside of the door and hung below the door step it stayed out most of the time.

Here it is another world entirely. You just walk into the diy shop pick one up that is the right size and style. Pick up the size mesh you want for it or strength, type etc there are hundreds of choices not to mention colours and away you go.

There's a rumour that our +60 yr old single lane metal window frames are going to be replaced soon. The glass rattles in the frames and the wind just blows through them literally.

I only keep the ants out by having a line of anti ant powder down in the gap between the mesh and the window. The mesh fits by virtue of being bigger than the window and clamped to the frame permanently. Our windows have been cleaned outside once in 6 years.

Sigh…just found out that one of husband’s coworkers I met at the party on Friday tested positive for covid on Saturday. Now we’re back into the whole monitor-for-symptoms-and-be-anxious thing.

It was a dull party too, definitely not worth covid!
Welp, just tested positive. I successfully dodged it for almost 5 years, but it finally caught up with me.

Are you feeling okay?

I've had it 3x, even though I've been vaxxed and had booster shots. The last time I got paxlovid. I was sick for about 6 days, DH 12+ days (he didn't take paxlovid).

So far it’s really not too bad. Scratchy throat and a cough, but I’m not even really congested. The cough is annoying - it’s very forceful. Hits my gag reflex sometimes.

I’ve had a total of 7 covid vaccines (most recent one in November), so hopefully they do their job of making sure this stays mild.
