Now other colonies are moving in. Two nights ago we had winged ants in the air. It's that time of year. This is just a case of a neighbouring colony having found an empty nest and expanded into it.

The flying ones; they do that here too. You'll go outside and see 1 or 2 sides of the house *covered* with ants. 👎

I'd rather you be enjoying your raspberries than being eaten by ants! I am guessing these are just a nuisance and they don't bite?
The ones on the house are a problem.

Swarming ants outside I have to problems with. Any ants inside are another matter

And yes, they do bite, but luckily this part of Australia doesn't currently have fire ants.

I don’t know how I’d cope with such wild fluctuations in temperature.
Layers I suppose and lots of ‘em 🤷‍♀️
Yeah, that is the hard part. Layers do help as do plenty of complete changes of clothes.

I did sleep in my night shirt, with pj bottoms, a sweatshirt and woolly socks last night! Hubby got up during the night to put socks on.

I'm considering not wearing the sweatshirt tonight, but we'll see. I need to do a check of what it actually is outside and compare it to what it was last night.

It’s not like your metabolism gets a chance to acclimatise and decide whether it need to burn fuel fast and you should eat more or it should go into salad mode 😂
