The Good News Thread

Brother and niece stopped by to get our old car for her. For once, transferring ownership, titling, and registering the car over to her went off without a hitch. Usually it’s a huge PITA that takes multiple trips, as the county officiants whimsically decide which documents you need to complete everything (and there’s always one you don’t have) - “Oh, I’m sorry…you need your great-grandmother’s twice removed cousin’s original paperwork from when they first settled in the Ohio Valley in 1799…you do have that, yeeesssss?”
Apparently that’s what makes it difficult to ride/drive America, different countries or individual authoritarians are known to just change the criteria 😂

It usually just comes down to one local tyrant playing Napoleon in their little fiefdom.
Yep.
Unfortunately those tiny minded peeps have been given carte blanche by a certain orange baby and that has led to British folk being treated pretty shoddily at the airport, including getting turned away and sent home regardless of visa.

The BBQ guy running our smoker day (who loves American BBQ culture) said he doesn’t see himself going again for at least four more years because of.. well you know. Everyone agreed with him 😞

There have been times over the years where I’ve gotten in one line, been denied something by this or that county clerk, said thanks and gotten in the next line over, and that clerk processed everything, no problem, no questions asked.

Yes that’s part of the problem. Now it’s quite random whether you get through or not.
I’m not really wanting to risk spending over 4K shipping our bikes to get turned away.
Or worse what appears to be happening one person gets through and the other doesn’t.

Anyway as this is the good news thread I’ll rephrase all that and say Mr SSOAP had his follow up appointment with his surgeon today and - Good news, we’re looking at riding Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia and Malaysia next year 👍👏😊

Don't forget your shots! 😆

She'll be raising pigs in a minute... 🤪

Have done mostly on our waste milk.

There’s a few things about livestock that means you don’t want to enter into it lightly.
Firstly pigs are intelligent animals that you’re going to get attached to. That eventually you’re gonna kill or get killed and that sucks.
Secondly they’re not cheap to rear.
Thirdly they’re powerful animals that churn up whatever ground they are on so you need to dedicate a large space to keep them and you happy.

Overall if I had to slaughter my own food I’d likely eat chicken and fish n that would be that!
Although sheep I feel no connection with and their stupidity has caused me a fair amount of discomfort so depends how hungry I got 😂

Agree on all points!

DH & I have been so VERY sick with influenza type A1 - not the nice one!
We had to call 911 and have EMS take DH to the hospital, he was WAY worst off than me and he stayed for 2 days.
Somewhere along the way, he was coughing so hard he had a heart attack - thank GAWD for his dual ICD that kicked him back to the curb! I was not far behind him and there was no way that I could have driven him to the hospital. He wound up with the same doctor that I had during my stay in the hospital about 2 years ago. Nice doc who use to practice in HAWAII!!!
Good News: we're both better (if not all the way) now and kick it!
