In Texas, we have lived with Mexican immigrants for decades. Drug dealers? Rapists? Sure, there are some. But fewer in percentage to born Americans. That's statistics, not opinion. These immigrants are more likely to mow your lawn for cheap than rob your house.

In Texas, most of us look at Mexicans the way we look at anyone else -- most are good people, and some are not.

Building the wall was a key feature of his 2016 campaign. At that time, he said that Mexico was going to pay for construction of the wall: his xenophobic followers loved that!

The only problem was that Mexico never agreed to pay for it. Why he thought that a not exactly wealthy country with residents he insulted would agree to pay for a wall is so mind-bogglingly ridiculous that I'm amazed more of his followers didn't question it.

Since Mexico wouldn't pay for it, he came up with a brilliant idea:

WE will pay for the wall!

All told, US taxpayers have paid $15 billion for construction of the wall. What I really don't get is how few of his followers turned on him about this. This is a colossal "switcheroo" that hurts his rural base more than anyone. Republicans who are supposed to be against government spending also didn't question this extra expense, instead making it sound like it was something they really wanted.

So many people are complicit in what Trump did to our country. I'm reminded of a poem that's at the Holocaust Memorial in Washington D.C. (I visited in 2019):

First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

But how many nations are truly united? Ours, sadly, has been one of the worst for as long as I can remember, but over the past 4 years we have sunk to an all time new low 😞

Personally I will always be beholden to America and the other Allies who lost the flowers of their youth to protect my existence in WW2.
 
I had to laugh when he was speaking during his rallies to his supporters and kept talking about hydrosonic missiles. Uh, dude, that's a toothbrush!

"They go very fast. Hydrosonic," he said. "Super dupers. They go five to seven times faster than the fastest missile in the world. They go so fast you can't do anything."

Edited to add the missile is hypersonic, just in case you weren't aware. And it also does not go 5-7 times faster than the fastest missile in the world. SMH, good riddance of that idiot.

Apparently, Trump had to get in some last minute pettiness. Before he left the WH, he sent some staff members home and fired the chief usher.

Did you see where Spike Lee called him "President Agent Orange?"

As I'm sure many of you know, Trump has relocated to Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach County, which is the next county north from Broward (Fort Lauderdale) and Miami-Dade County south of Broward. Ivanka and her husband have also brought property south of Mar-a-Lago with the presumed intention of building a home (and it has been reported the neighbors don't want them there). This morning, a local news feed reported that our "illustrious" Senator Marco Rubio was asked in an interview about Ivanka running against him for his next term. Apparently, he hemmed and hawed, and then changed the subject.

Multiple banners have been flown via plane telling Trump he's the worst, and to go back to Moscow. It's been quite the warm welcome, lol. Also, members are leaving because they say the mood has gotten dark, and it's depressing there now.

He is apparently also furious about Dr. Faucci doing all these interviews and expressing how much of a relief it is not being stifled by the POTUS. He thinks people are acting out against him and "destroying his legacy out of hate for him" which is simply the most ironic thing coming from the man that spent 4 years doing everything he could to undo everything Obama did because he hates him, lol.

That man is a large orange ball of hatred.

I unfortunately know a few people who have similar sociopathic and narcissistic tendencies as he does, but they are far more intelligent than he. People like that tend to think that everyone else thinks the same way that they do, so they don't understand compassion and kindness at all (or love for anyone other than themselves). Those kinds of people tend to think people who are compassionate and kind are weak, and the way they deal with weakness is to (try to) trample it. If he hadn't screwed things up so badly with his presidency, I might feel sorry for him, but he caused a lot of death and other problems in our country that generations to come will still be dealing with, so no. I can't forgive or forget.

That's just it, he undoubtedly does not want sympathy at all and only wants people to lie, cheat, and steal on his behalf. I imagine if someone on his staff told him that they felt pity for him they would have been fired.

Can you believe how many insane people drank the koolaid and went along with his insane demands? Still SMH at Ted Cruz, among many.

Do you think maybe he had syphilis at one point (prior to his presidency) and went undetected long enough ( because he didn't know and never went to the doctor) and screwed up his brain? Or maybe he was just always a horrible person without having any excuse for being that way.

I think he is the end result of a lifetime of never being told no, never being told by a parent to straighten up, an adulthood surrounded by yes men and grifters, all fostered by an huge bank account that solved most issues by throwing money at whatever the issue was. That all coupled with he's just always been a narcissistic arrogant prick, and he was destined to be a loathsome person.

I had hope (not much, but a wee bit) hope that with him now gone, the GOP would all of the sudden grow some spines, but that doesn't seem to be the case. I'm not sure what he has over them. It's pathetic. Even more so is that people think these are people to be admired for their qualities and character. He is the antithesis of the American dream, American values and America as an idea...yet he's still embraced and only narrowly lost the election. COVID isn't the only epidemic the USA is facing right now.
