Ukraine

What is alarming to me about it, is that the Ukrainians are shelling the big nuclear plant. They cut the four high-capacity electrical wires servicing the facility too. If this continues a run-away situation can occur. It would make Chornobyl look like a child firecracker in comparison.

Well, the whole war is Ukraine's fault... and NATO, which means the US is ultimately to blame.

I envy the Swiss. That neutrality thing has worked out well for the country. Switzerland makes money from wars, while the rest of us have to chose sides and pay the price. Has Switzerland changed its policy on rejecting injured Ukrainian soldiers yet?

Both sides should be sanctioned afterwards for shelling a nuclear powerplant, it's a threat for many millions of people and I should shut my mouth and let the experts save my life while doing something against my dramatic thoughts.

Couldn't they ''attack'' us with high quality products, rising economy, brilliant patented ideas to fight climate change and other good things to show russian power?
No.
Because they haven´t got any.:p: High quality, brilliant ideas and rising economies do not emanate from Communist/Marxist/Stalinist regimes. You only find them in capitalist societies.

Here in the UK there is just one story today, so we've missed the very successful offensive by Ukrainian forces and the collapse of Russian defences in front of them. Great news, but it means that if Putin is going to use battlefield nuclear weapons then his decision time is approaching. A very dangerous phase of the war for Europe.

Thank you for posting this - I've been trying to find a TV channel (or radio channel) which is reporting anything other than Queen related news without success. Very frustrating as I like to know what's going on in the world.

A thread roll-up from twitter

The author is reasonably well respected, it lays out the collapse of Russian defences during the last couple of days.

As MG said, getting news of anything other than King Charles is impossible in the UK today, so if anyone has reliable links to verified information I would like to read it. Clearly something major is occurring both on the battlefield and back in Moscow, but it is difficult to separate fact from deliberate misinformation in support of the Ukrainian advance.

Thank you for the link. What frightens me is that I do respect the BBC as a source of at least some impartiality. I am now wondering what it would take (would have taken) for them to report anything other than Queen/King news in the last few days. Its as if a blanket 'white out' has occurred (or should I say 'black out' because all presenters are wearing black!). If Putin had been assassinated would that have been reported (for example)? I'm now beginning to wonder...

Twitter has videos of the centre of Moscow blocked off by lorries, reports several local Russian legislatures including in the Capital are openly calling for Putin's removal. The presidential plane has departed Moscow tonight and turned off its transponder so it can't be tracked.
Something is going on, but in the UK it's just endless interviews with sad people saying the same thing 😡

Is CNN available there? We have BBC America here. CNN is covering the royal news, but not as heavily as British media. There is still reasonably good coverage of events in Ukraine.

Interesting...

Is CNN available there?

Yes we do. Currently showing is African Voices (sports) but at 8pm is CNN Newsroom Sunday. I'll give it a look.

This morning we have seen the re-emergence of news on the BBC news channel. The Ukrainian advances are stunning, even to the Ukrainians. Meanwhile the Russians are claiming they are falling back to regroup and redeploy, possibly made more difficult because they have left so many tanks and rocket launchers behind for the Ukrainians.
