What’s the next kitchen item you plan to buy?

Black Friday is a rort here. A week ago my wife ordered and paid for a tablet for $199. She got an e mail saying they couldn't supply. Shes in a war with them. More in 2 months??

Just ordered these to items. They won’t be here til Wednesday as December in Spain is a month of constant holidays but that’s ok I’ll just be annoyed the tablespoon measure is missing until then 🙄
I’m hoping them being magnetic stacking ones means it won’t go walkies, the ring that keep the others together clearly didn’t work!

And this induction hob for outdoors because although I had one back in Blighty to bring over, EasyJet (the airline) wanted over £40 to take a cabin bag and I was so incensed by this daylight robbery I refused 😂

Of course now I want to fry chicken that tiny kitchen in this heat I’m not so sure it was a wise decision 😁

The new measuring spoons turned up.
I'm liking them a lot.
The measurement is clearly stated and the spoons are double ended, the oval end fits in a spice jar but also means they are level when laid flat.

That probably doesn't sound like much of a bonus but my thumbs are rubbish and often I could do with both hands to squeeze or scrape something out of a tub!

I am wondering how the print on the silicone will fair in a dishwasher but it doesn't take five minutes to familiarise yourself with size by sight so hopefully they're going to be good.
Might even put them on my Christmas list for the UK 😊

I've a silicone mat that I've only ever hand washed. The smoothness of the surface suggests the layer of printing would be quite easy to remove but like you said "size by sight". I rarely use volume measuring tools anymore and water by weight I'm really precise with from years of baking with bakers %'s.

A rigid print on a flexible surface never does well over time does it, I always look at those cracked sweatshirt prints and think well what did you expect?! 😂

I use measuring spoons all the time, especially when trying out a new recipe. I’ll start off with precisely the measurements they recommend and then usually the spoons are abandoned as I taste and adjust to suit us.

I don’t particularly trust scales. More than once I’ve been measuring stuff into a bowl and known the scale isnt registering it correctly.
I hate the part where you’re sprinkling something in and it’s too little for your scale to recognise it. So you have to tap the bowl to make them move enough to recognise the addition.
That’s even with my most expensive scales.

So instead I have to use a second set that measure micro amounts accurately. The whole thing kind of annoys me.
So if a spoon will do the job give me a spoon, even if it’s not quite right at least next time I’ll know how much to use by eye without getting scaled up 😝

I got the mat for the material and wasn't the slightest interested in the ink. It's easier to clean than the counter tops I had when I got it. Now I've granite and you can *tell* when it's dusty...

My Escali scale is many years, decade plus?, old but still measures right along. I pretty much only use it for baking hydrations.

I think that’s the brand JAS_OH1 bought.
It’s not one I’m familiar with.

Yes, that's the one that they replaced with a similar model since the one that I had that quit working had been discontinued. I had also bought a cheapo scale during the interim before the replacement arrived that works well enough though not ultra precise. For what I have been doing it isn't necessary. The new Escali is still living in it's box, which I stuck in the pantry. I guess I should take it out and make sure it works, LOL!
