I make ginger caramels from the rhizome. The whole thing/all of it is in the pot.I'm not a big fan, but got into it more in the past year.
I used crystallised ginger which of course is sweetened, plus a small amount ground ginger in the cakes, so it's a ginger taste, not a GINGER taste![]()
I’ve made orange olive oil cake before, one of my favorites!I wandered across a recipe for a lime olive oil cake and having about a dozen limes gave it a shot. No sugar was called for in the batter but I added some until it tasted like cake batter. When it was done it certainly tasted 'olive oily', but not in a bad way, and the lime was just a hint.
