No I didn't prepare them on my own, they were already made and also to be consumed within today, so I took advantage of the short time and I cooked them.
But while I ate them I thought that I haven't done them myself for a long time...

I made gravadlax recently but I've never made smoked salmon. How did you smoke it?

I have a cold smoke generator like the picture below which I use in our kettle BBQ.

I only had a single (large) serving of the cold borscht left, so had to cook another soup today. Luckily it was one of our cooler days forecast this week at 35°C which it duely reached. Inside and out is still 30°C now at nearly 9pm and that's no hope of windows and doors being open. Record air quality figures are forecast tonight and not the good sort, so I was busy grilling the peppers at 6:30am this morning. Despite having 2 BBQ's I haven't been able to use either due to the smoke from the fires. Best laid plans and all that...

So after a day cleaning up from Christmas tree debris, chasing 7 bantam chicks around the kitchen and generally cleaning ash off any and every surface conceivable, I had a little fun in the kitchen this evening. 2 half bowls of soup.
