Dinner this evening was a chicken and mushroom risotto.

Funny thing, with risotto. Whenever I have it in a restaurant, I always find it thoroughly delightful. Whenever I try to cook it, I'm always disappointed.

I find home made is far better than restaurant. Do you use a recipe? Maybe change an ingredient..

We ordered a wrap each, we were given some Turkish bread and 4 portions of cold meze 'on the house' very tasty as were the wraps :hungry:
I have lost my sense of smell which affects my tastebuds a bit. Wraps to me are tasteless - like pliable, thin cardboard. Do they have much taste/flavour to you?

They warm them through on the bbq just before serving which does release some flavour but doesn't overpower the taste of the filling.

That is understandable. We booked a table at a Loch Fyne restaurant in Nottingham, most tables were empty but they offered us a tiny table next to the door to the toilets, I refused and asked to be seated elsewhere, don't want to eat a meal close to that smell :yuck:

That's incredibile cause it happens sometimes also to me..the restaurant/trattoria is empty, not booked table and the waiter offered a table next to the toilet or next to the entrance of restaurant. "maybe is there a better table out of the restaurant? In the parking maybe? No?? Oh what hell of restaurant is!"

I always use half oil, half butter and finish it with parmesan to give it extra creaminess.

I understand being offered a table near the window when the restaurant is not very busy, but not being at the back.

I would suggest a little secret about creaminess of risotto..at the end of cooking,I add a little piece of very cold butter (from the freezer). This is a method to make risotto more creamy

I think 'wraps' are tasteless. Even the name suggests that! I'm not saying that the wraps had by @Lullabelle were tasteless - but certainly the one's I have had are.
