What did you cook/eat today (May 2017)?

I had a chicken pilau for dinner last night, but instead of the usual turmeric in it to colour the dish, this one had pimento and mint. Absolutely delicious, but (to me at least) a very strange dark dusky pink colour instead of yellow . Sorry, no photo - I've got a new phone and I think I need to practice.....
I too have a new phone. Samsung Galaxy S7 (I chose it because it has one of the best cameras available). The images are astoundingly sharp. Watch this space...

Typical milanese aperitif after work tonight. I like to do aperitif with colleagues also because practically aperitives are like dinner. A lot of little plates of any sort of pasta, rice, baked potatoes, meatballs, salads, only for 5 Euros, all you can eat. I don't rememberif this is usual to do also in UK the aperitives..?

I couldn't afford one of them. Besides the chap in front of me was returning a nearly new, very black and melted Samsung phone, which had caught fire without warning (not charging and not plugged in). I'm not sure what model it was, but the assistant said it was not one of the usual suspects and they had trouble convincing Samsung customer services. Not a good advert for them. Mine is an LG, which has a much better camera than my Windows phone, but I can't work out how the flash works. I'm going to have to sit down and read the very long instruction manual. Otherwise, it may now be a case of carrying on with the Windows phone for the time being. That has now replaced my very old Android phone, which was kept as a spare in the car; and the LG phone replaces my other, newer Android phone which died after an update.

In the UK 'aperitif' is a pre-dinner drink such as Martini. What you describe sounds a bit like the Spanish tapas.

Well, strictly, aperitif is anything that whet's the appetite. Clearly anything that satisfys the appetite is not an aperitif, but it doesn't necessarily have to be a drink, and certainly doesn't necessarily have to be alcoholic. I have to say though, a good sherry is a damn fine aperitif.

I used to know this chap who owned a hardware shop (a small corner shop). Apparently he often received phone calls from giggling teenagers asking about whether he did various items...
The funniest comment I ever heard was she knows how to screw.
This was said by a college kid who was eyeing my nice big
cordless screwdriver
