What did you cook or eat today (April 2020)?

Cod and. Smoked salmon fish cakes, triple cooked chips, mushy peas and salad tonight.View attachment 40116

Your mushy peas look so green - how do you make them (or is it a tin)? I won't blame you if its a tin. The chips look great and the fish cakes... OK, when we are allowed to visit other people can I come round for dinner please?

You tell me. In normal times (what is that anyway?) I would have used Castelvetrano Olives. I found the olives almost harsh unless eaten with a bite of chicken. I have to admit that I am partial to skin on, bone in chicken thighs. I love the crispy skin.

Bottom line did YOU like it?

I loved it. I added a review to your recipe post, and I have to say, I loved the salty kick of the plain old pimento-stuffed Queen olives that I had on hand. It was like the chicken gave me a little savory tease, and the gentle caress of the sauce, and then...POW!...the olives show up, kick everything over, grab my tastebuds by the lapels and say, "Listen up! We're olives, see, and we're here to f*** sh!t up!"

Ok, maybe I had two glasses of wine. :shy:

Biscuit ang tea? You need to take more water with it chap. :p:

Murders, along with most other crime, are very rare in Guernsey, the last one that I can recall was in 2007. Allegedly if the Guernsey police recruit any UK officers they have to be 're-educated' into Guernsey life. Part of the re-education is that minor offences are worth pursuing as their day isn't filled with more serious crimes.

Obviously not everything is rosy, we have our share of Richard Craniums, one of the benefits of a small island is that they are well known to the police so they generally know who has done what.

It was Guernsey and the potato, skin pie book club, I watched half last night. I like it.

They were a small tin, I do make them myself but I forgot to pre soak them, so added a pinch of salt & pepper and small dash of balsamic to a Morrison’s own brand, and yes , you are welcome any time !!!

Forgot to post pic of burger last night.

I like that movie. Both Katherine Parkinson and Penelope Wilton are in that. KP's croaky frog voice, for some reason, sends my heart a flutter, and I remember first seeing PW in Ever Decreasing Circles and vowed to have a clandestine rendezvous with her one day, but it's never happened and we're not getting any younger, either of us.

So yesterday was ANZAC Day here in Australia. Probably our most important day in the calendar year, as we honour those who fought and died serving in our armed forces. But as part of that tradition, we also have these biscuits (cookies) called Anzac biscuits that have a historical link to our armed services that I won't go in to now (google it if you're interested). As you can imagine, there is much debate on recipes, etc. Anyway, my work colleague brought some of hers in yesterday to work....and they were delicious and she gave me the recipe. So, a long winded explanation as to why I cooked some bikkies today.
