What did you cook or eat today (April 2025)?

Farfalle with tuna, tomato passata and olives

I'm with you there. They tell you that the secret is to cook the rice 2/3rds of the way, and then assemble, then completely seal the lid with a strip of pastry, etc.
Mine never tastes the same as the Curry Inn!

Ok I had another go today and fried up what remained of my rice with some curry powder, cumin, coriander, turmeric having taken some cues from a different YouTuber. It turned out much more like the restaurant kind. Here it is with some tandoori king prawns:

Bit of leftover for tomorrow lunch:

I got fish n chips on way home from the pub. These are still good
I won't buy a burger from them. I miss their burgers.
I have lamb leg steaks out for tea later.

After eating canneloni for 3 nights in a row, we are having bacon cheeseburgers for dinner tonight. My DH actually asked me this afternoon in a receptive and upbeat manner, "Canneloni again tonight?" I told him we were having bacon cheeseburgers and he actually looked a little disappointed. But we can have leftover canneloni tomorrow night as I am probably working late. Got some more canneloni in the freezer I made up last night that we can have in a few weeks or more when I get buried with work again.

Pot roast braised in oven with carrots, parsnips (for Craig), onions, potatoes and mushrooms. We've got enough left for another meal and maybe a third, open face sandwiches or a pot pie. A joint effort, he did all the actual cooking, I prepped the vegetables.

I've pulled a muscle in my lower side back that I keep reinjuring and after going to grocery yesterday and lifting heavy water cases into cart and helping to carry grocery bags in, I'm back to hurting bad, so I wasn't about to be lifting the heavy enamel over cast iron pan, plus the 4.5 pound roast and all the vegetables in and out of the oven.

Sounds like hubby really enjoyed it.
So it may have been a lot of effort to make, but it's a winner :)

I'd say that's a resounding victory, congrats!

Backs are miserable things when they're bad, hope it starts fixing itself soon.
Good that Craig stepped up, I'm a bit surprised but it's great that he did
