What did you cook or eat today (August 2023)

Late lunch:

That’s the sloppy joe special with ham-and-bean soup. MrsT had peach pie for dessert.

Looks all home made..was it? Looks good

Grilled a couple of ribeyes. Walking past the nest counter and they caught my eye. Wiped up an herbed compound butter. Fresh basil, thyme and rosemary. A little minced garlic and lemon juice. Prior to grilling I brushed the steaks with canola oil and salted and peppered them. One of those times where everything worked.

The doughnut? Yeah, at an Amish bakery. MrsT loved it, I could have done without the peaches. Peaches are…ok, but not something I’d go out of my way for, though the peaches we’ve been eating here are the best I’ve ever had (sorry, Georgia).

I sorta meant the soup and sandwich..but..I should have specified...it's nice to have original food these days..we got peaches from the Mennonites they bring up from Southern Ontario by bus..The stop is beside my house..Their horses crap on the other side of my fence..they never pick it up..lol

Yes to that as well. It’s why we like that place. It’s out away from the “Amish strip,” so it’s locals, mainly.

When we first found the place, the girl working there was a junior in high school, so 16-17yo, and she was telling us she wanted to be a veterinarian, and this time around…she’s starting school in a few weeks.

I don't think so. Chutney usually has a little heat, and chunks in it. One looked like soy sauce only sweet and the other looked like a sweet green salsa. Both had no solids in it. Just sweet liquid.
