a little curiosity, if interested: in Italy pasta with tomatoe and mozzarella it's called pasta "alla sorrentina"

Sorrento is a very touristic village, scenic in front of the sea, near Naples
Where do you live in Italy?

I lived close to a tiny village in Lazio called Tecchiena for three years..I worked in my in laws hotel which was in Frozinone, as a cook and a barrista..I thought by some of your posts you might have been from the central part of Italy..

I'm not...but I travel all the peninsula (and the isles :D) and tastes as much regional specialities as I can!
I know that Italy is a small country, but here you travel for only 50/100km and you can meet some very different dishes!

did you enjoy your stay in Italy? People from Rome and neighborhing is faomous for being particularly noisy :D

I did love my time In Italy..I had two children while living there....As a young man, it was very influential for me..I became friends with some Napolitanos who used to work and stay in our hotel which also had pensione rooms.. so I became very good at being noisy myself..They had some great laughs teaching me how to curse and speak Neapolitan slang..

I don't see anything to mop up. Did you hold the sauce until after the photos?

Mopping up the sauce is almost as good as eating the mussels. :okay:

CD

Its all underneath the mussels - lots of it but you can't see it in the photos. Maybe I need to photograph it in a shallower bowl.

DH made the suggestion that we go out to eat "linner" (late lunch/early dinner) at one of our favorite Italian joints that just recently opened up a new location closer to us.
BRILLANT! (I really had no clue as to what I was going to make, so that saved my bacon, so to speak)

Sicilian-style "deep dish" pizza and a huge Salad that we shared.
It could have used more of the roasted Garlic and I would have left the pie in the oven
maybe 30 seconds longer, it's a bit blonde for my taste, but I'm not the cook so ... I didn't have to do a thing!
AND I had TWO glasses of wine in the duration of linner, win win!

*Side note: have y'all noticed the prices of dining out have jumped significantly?
Our tab was a good $10 more than the last time we dined there :meh:
