Served in the traditional way, tavern cut and on a paper plate.
 
I had to look Krapfen up. It looks like what we call Jelly Doughnuts in the US. I don't know if the dough is the same, but the method of making them is the same.

Yes, I think those would be donuts, but without a hole in the center. They are slightly flattened balls.

Actuall they are on offer all year round, very popular. But traditionally they are carnival food. We call them, influenced by the German original Krafne, but the Croatian name indicates the carnival tradition Pokladnice, POklade being the carnival festival.
 
On a cold February evening a spicy chilli con carne with dipping bread is difficult to beat.

Unfortunately, the temperature was 33°C at 17:30!

Never mind, it tasted good.

(No image as it looked like every other chilli con carne that I've photographed).
