This was very good, indeed: onions, carrots, celery, garlic, some vegetable broth, a can of diced tomatoes, lentils, and a few herbs, that’s it.

What’s more, it’s going to get reused a couple of times in a couple of new recipes. Stay tuned…

I'm sorry if I'm being pedantic but Shepherd's Pie is made with lamb. A similar dish but made with beef is a Cottage Pie.

The name Shepherd's Pie has become a catch-all name these days, at least here. People make Chili and Gumbo out of just about anything, too.

If you live in Texas and make chili with beans that will get you shot. Apparently they feel very strongly about putting beans in chili.
Chili with beans is not authentic "Texas Red". I can take it either way.

I do live in Texas, since 1974, and beans in chili is not the "sin" it once one. It has actually become pretty common here. I sometimes use beens, and other times don't.

I have seen people make "chili" in ways that I personally think have strayed too far to be called chili. They are just soups, to me.

We went to the grocery yesterday then decided to have lunch at our favorite wood fired oven pizza place. Craig had meatball and cheese. I had my go to Margharita. We always get large pizzas because they are only $3 more than the smalls. So we had pizza for lunch, then Craig finished his off for dinner and I ate a couple more pieces, so still have half of mine left.
