What did you cook or eat today (January 2025)

The remains of the hot roasted saffron cauliflower salad, the spare saffron water was used to cook the rice, and salad...

And some pickled tofu

On Wednesday, I fancied something vaguely Lebanese, since I unearthed some frozen kibbe from the freezer. Homemade hummus, kibbe, Lebanese pickles and a tomato/feta cheese salad:

Then yesterday, time just seemed to fly by and before I knew it, it was 5pm. I'd made some beluga lentils with left over xistorra and a couple of rashers of bacon, and also a ratatouille, but by the time I got round to trying to eat them, my wife had cleared them both away and put them in the fridge!
So I split open some pita bread, filled it with homemade falafel, tomato, feta onion and parsley, and wolfed those down:

Kibbe!!! Used to be a Ukranian woman owned the post box place I frequented in Las Vegas and she'd make me a plate of those often. Dang they were so good. I haven't had those in years. Might be a trick to get those in the middle of NW Georgia though. 🤷‍♂️

We've got a whole load of Lebanese restaurants in Caracas; and some very good ones, too. Then there's a couple of stores (El Arabito, San Jorge) that also sell anything and everything from the middle east: kibbe, pita bread, spices, pickles, dips and sweets.
