I don't even know what stratifying is!

From Shiso (Perilla frutescens) | The Good-To-Know | Seeds A-Z | Seed catalog P - Samen & Saatgut

Perilla frutescens may well be considered a classical window sill culinary herb. Shiso needs light to germinate and should therefore only be lightly pressed into the soil. When they are started indoors, they need a short cold stratification to simulate the winter season. Sow outdoors either in late fall or early spring, before the last frost. Choose nutrient-rich and well-drained soil and keep sufficiently moist, but avoid waterlogging. Perilla thrives in the sun and in partial shade.

Just stick them in the freezer for a few days. Again, it can take a long time for them to germinate. The first time I grew some it was close to a month.

That must be what went wrong. The packet never mentioned doing that. Thanks!

All recipes should be posted as new threads in the section of the forum which best fits. This is because they are not searcheable either by Google or our own search engine if they are embedded in another thread.

So click on 'new thread' and choose from the list, where it fits the best. In this case: Bread Making, Baking and Cakes.
Thank you. I will post the recipe tomorrow.

It's too hot to grill!

Says someone who doesn't live in Texas :D
I don't know what it's going to be like at your end of the state, but down here, we're looking at 94F with an HI more like 100F on Sunday.

My deck is light grey manufactured decking, and I was out grilling in mah bare feet, and even with that light color, I had to stand in the shadow of the grill to keep from burning my soles!
