I think we were confused because you said 'mashed'. Endive (chicory in the UK) is a crisp tightly packed leafy head of lettuce. It can of course be cooked until tender - delicious! But I'm not sure how you would mash it. I think you could probably puree it, though. Maybe you used the root of the endive which is also edible?

I just cook it in strips and stir it through the mash. I just call it endive mash, but I understand the confusion. It's a Dutch way to eat it, not common elsewhere
 
Oh sorry! I read it as meaning mash made with only endive. So you mean its potato mash with endive. That makes sense now.

Yes but I was unclear too, sorry for that. Good that we understand each other now. Sometimes things are a little harder to translate when it's something only done locally.

Scrambled eggs n crispy bacon for the wife, (sat) was given free range eggs but they are very pale, very!! I don't think they are free range?? Don't suppose I should complain, they were free.
Cup of tea for me.
