I do hope nobody down there heard you say "crayfish" out loud.

I've only been to the Wheelhouse once. They had a special that night, red snapper. I had mine grilled.

Do you remember ever going to Leo and Willie's on Gulfway Drive in Port Arthur as a kid/teen?

I typed crawfish, but I posted on my phone (autocorrect). I figured y'all knew what I meant so I didn't edit it.

Breakfast out this morning:

Biscuits and gravy, sausage links, and two over easy eggs (one's a bit hidden):

Corned beef hash, two eggs, hash browns, toast out of shot:

These were both as good a breakfast as we've had out in a long time. I'm picky about my biscuits and gravy, and these were pretty good. MrsT's was pretty much perfect all the way around, especially those potatoes. The only ding against mine was that the sausage links weren't cased.

Exactly. Very true. She did call me when her pancakes were too thick this morning and she could not flip them, but mostly it is more practical for me to stay away. She feels in charge and the kitchen is small.

I am just baking two large sweet potatoes (in halves)in the method you advised, 135 c, two hours or so ...

Kale stew and chicken cordon bleu along.

Do you have a thermometer to check them? If not, a skewer will work. It should slide into the potato with no resistance.

Looks good!

While you are out touring retirement villages, don't forget to check out the local Early-Bird specials for dinner. :okay:

You would have laughed at us yesterday. We went to Enzo's On The Lake, bills itself as romantic and special-occasion oriented, lots of dim lighting and ambiance inside.

1. We got there at 4:50PM...because we didn't want to be late for the 5:30PM opening. The valets were setting up and felt sorry for us sitting out in the heat and let us come in at about 5:10PM and wait in the foyer.

2. We had our drinks at the bar, our exquisite meal, some wine, the lovely dessert, coffees, all in nice subdued lighting, a real adult meal experience, paid the bill, and...walked out into blazing hot super-bright sunlight, because it was barely 7PM when we left!
