Chicken curry with veggies in the making

I've got to hunt down some Bisto gravy and try it. Just looking at it, it doesn't appeal to me. It's very shiny.

CD
I can get it at the big Kroger (Marketplace). It's in the tiny, tiny section they label "International," where the jars of German kraut are, PG Tips tea, and imported biscuits/cookies.

Kroger is weird that way, because they're inconsistent. There are also a host of international cookies in the regular cookie aisle, for example, and you'd see that PG Tips and think, "That's all the British tea they have," then you'll see a load of Twining's over in the regular tea aisle, and there will be zero Italian products in the International aisle, but a small segregated section of imported Italian goods in the pasta aisle...or is it the canned tomatoes aisle. They spread that stuff out. 🤷🏻‍♂️

The main thing we do with Bisto here is serve it over fries/chips. We like it a lot, but nearly every other person I've served it to has found it to be a really bad artificial gravy.

We had plain hamburgers today (readymade wheat-sesame buns and meatloaf dough for the patties with minced beef, sour cream, eggs, dehydrated onion soup, sautéed onions and garlic, etc.) and hubby grilled the patties on open fire and added slices of cheddar on top in the end. A bit messy but quite good. Supplements: four different mayos (home-made with mustard, lime aioli, lemon mayo and/or Heinz American Hamburger sauce), tomatoes and ketchup.

There is a new farm shop about 10 miles south of here, so I went yesterday. The beef and lamb come from the farm, so I had high hopes. It was rather disappointing, they had a small selection of meat, all frozen, and it certainly didn't reflect their flashy web page Anyway I bought two steaks seeing as I had made the trip.
Having thawed them the beef has a lovely yellow marbling and a deep colour, unfortunately they have been very badly butchered, thick on one side and tapering out on the other, they will be a nightmare to cook. I will let you know in an hour.

I would turn them into sandwiches using thinly sliced beef strips and maybe folding in some sauteed mushrooms, onions, peppers, and cheese...but hopefully they turn out okay however you prepare them.

So, in a searing hot cast iron pan for bearly 4 minutes then rested for 5. I didn't notice that the butcher had failed to remove a membrane, so as soon as they hit the pan they curled up. They ended up cooked medium and a bit but remained a bit flaccid, so I sliced them over the veg. I'm not even convinced they were sirloin, they certainly didn't cook like sirloin.

I will not be returning to that farm shop.

But how did it taste?

I don't blame you for not wanting to go back. Shame on them, bad way to run a business but a worst way to start one. But then again, maybe the lamb is their star product and the beef is just not.
