What did you cook or eat today (July 2022)?

Boring salad for me is iceberg lettuce, tomato, cucumber, green capsicum & onion.

The bog standard offering at the BBQ’s of my childhood. Usually with canned beetroot, corn kernels & asparagus to the side of it in their own dishes and salad dressing was pretty fancy.

My inlaws still serve it up. They find my dresses rocket salads with cheese & fruits etc pretty wild.
Pretty much the same here as well.

A what is in the fridge meal for tonight.

Mixed veg Kharachi which is basically rice, mung dal, ginger and chillies and then cumin seeds, and any veg that you've got to hand, so today it was 2 small carrots, 2 courgettes, 300g of cauliflower, some chopped snow peas, some sprouts and some cashew nuts. It's a recipe that uses no alliums at all, so no onion, garlic, leeks etc.

I commenced cooking a bog standard chicken curry today. I cut up the chicken (around 700 gms) and then made the sauce. Then I felt really tired so both the chicken and the sauce will wait in the fridge.

My wife has ordered carry oot char siu noodles for us both.

And served by hubby for evening meal...

One thing I did notice is that the sprouts absorbed more of the ginger flavour than other vegetables, something I have noticed previously with sprouts & mustard. Luckily it wasn't too much to eat, but they were a touch spicy hotter than expected, lol.

Dinner was roasted chicken leg with garlic, ginger lemon seasoning and orzo pasta (orzo pasta is not a typical side dish but I had a pack of orzo pasta in the pantry since forever, and decided I just had to use it tonight
