I think a good lunchmeat sandwich is highly underrated!From Krogers. Light rye bread. It is excellent.
The sandwich had mayo and mustard, three meats, onions and tomatoes. The lettuce and basil were fresh picked from the garden.

That’s one thing that I miss from my youth - up until the late-70’s, you could pull into any podunk little mom-and-pop grocery and they’d make sandwiches. You’d say, “a little of this, a couple of slices of that,” and get the best sandwich you ever had.I remember as a very young boy up North calling it lunchmeat.

There are still a few places that do that around here, but they’re largely gone.
