Skate wing, ratatouille and potatoes.

It looks alright but I wasn’t really very happy with it , particularly the ratatouille which didn’t taste all that great, which was disappointing after all the chopping and prepping of the veg for it. And the fish took a long time to cook and after frying it for what seemed ages, I ended up microwaving some of the pieces to make sure they were done in the middle as they were still a bit bloody, so overall a bit of a fail.

Ah well..

Porterhouse and a T-bone

Spareribs (house blend dry rub) done in the stove-top smoker (hickory & mesquite smoke chips/dust). Mopped with SBR sauce, and finished under broiler. Doctored Bush's baked beans on the side.

Also had an ice cream cone with chocolate sprinkles (Häagen-Dazs coffee chip, was very good).

We were expecting a programmed powercut, but it never happened. The Electricity company is replacing equipment in the sub-stations, so we'd planned for no power during the day.
But this is Venezuela and the "team" never showed up.
We'd invited some friends for lunch. All cold stuff. Tuna, salads, Serrano ham. smoked fish, homemade pate, cheeses - well that all went down a treat, along with a bottle of Cava and some (fairly ordinary) red wine. Good afternoon, however.

That’s one thing that I miss from my youth - up until the late-70’s, you could pull into any podunk little mom-and-pop grocery and they’d make sandwiches. You’d say, “a little of this, a couple of slices of that,” and get the best sandwich you ever had.

There are still a few places that do that around here, but they’re largely gone.

When I was repping in 80s Monday was always 8.30 sales meeting then first stop was a sandwich bar in sydenham. Every Monday. An hour talking about our weekends. 4 reps doing nothing. Funny thing was when we left work and went different directions. But meeting up 20 mins later. Oh those sandwiches made for me, gerkins and all

Beautiful tender roast beef. I've never had beef so tender.
Roast veges and peas and rich brown gravy. 10/10
