Did you 'free style' that?
Yes. It's funny, because I've made this, or something very similar, many, many times before, but this is the first time I got the "new favorite" comment.

Just like I'll frequently make a salad to use up whatever's in the fridge, or a soup, I do the same with pasta - just sauté whatever's nearing the end of its usefulness in a little garlic oil (asparagus, a bit of frozen peas, whatever), boil the pasta, toss them together, top with some cheese, and be done with it.

That's good. You so often say you follow recipes - the thing is that when you get a lot of experience cooking recipes I think it becomes a lot easier to 'invent'. One gets to know the principles, almost without thinking.

I made seafood pasta Thursday night with scallops and langoustine tails in a roasted tomato and garlic cream sauce, topped with grated Romano cheese and fresh basil and parsley from the garden.

DH made an executive decision that we needed to go to our favorite Asian Bistro.
The last few time that we've gone, what with price hikes, I suggested that we do take out of just our two usual orders.
Mine is the Teriyaki Salmon Japanese-style Bento box lunch which includes Miso Soup and a salad. As you can see in my Bento Box there is 4 pieces of California roll Sushi, 2 Crispy Dumplings, a huge fillet of Salmon, under that is the Teri sauce and a load of stir fried mixed vegetables. I opted for an upsell from white rice to LoMein.

DH had his usual 3 Sushi Roll Lunch special that includes Miso Soup.

We shared and still have leftovers

A few days you catch up...

So lunch yesterday was a hot lunch of scrambled tofu, mushrooms and onions on toast. It's one of those dishes that looks fine right up until you add the paprika, garam masala and the tamari. Then it turns a murky brown colour, but tastes great.

Evening meal was the last of the Iranian Herb & Bean Stew/soup. Hubby balanced an orange tomato on top of the soy yoghurt!

The today, a hot lunch of smashed avo on toast with fried onions & mushrooms. It's one of the few occasions that the onions go in after the mushrooms to get the best taste. It's the way my Grannie used to make it (though avocado wasn't included in her version, I just fancied it and needed the oils right now).

Hubby made a request for cake because I was passing a certain cafe shop on my way to collect a couple of filters for our air purifiers. So I stopped by an got him a piece of polenta cake.

I just had a chocolate croissant which didn't fair too well coming home...

Thankfully the shop part of the cafe shop also had the pomegranate molasses I was after. $5.99 for 250ml instead of the $10 for 110ml that it was in the supermarket. (The cheap brand in the supermarket contains lots and lots of sugar which isn't good in the dish I use it in).
