What did you cook or eat today (June 2023)?

Not worth photographing. Dinner tonight was blackened tuna steaks with my homemade tartar sauce, corn on the cob and some of the focaccia I baked yesterday. Nice, simple meal. Triple chocolate cake and vanilla ice cream for dessert. No, I didn't bake the cake. Sorry.

Lots of us photograph or post about food we got somewhere else, you didn't have to bake the cake to enjoy it or to share the experience of eating it!

Cobb salad.

I had half a small roll with diluso genoa salami, small portion homemade macaroni salad, and small arugula, kalamata olives, tricolor heirloom cherry tomato salad. Dressed with kalamata olive oil, red wine vinegar and seasoning .

A repeat of yesterday.
It looks like a lot of sprouts, but when I divided them into 4 portions, it was 5 or 6 sprouts each, so I just cooked the lot. Similar with the 3 field mushrooms I had left. Why just cook the 2? What will happen to the 3rd? More to the point why was there an odd number in the first place?... 😆 these and a million more questions remain unanswered!

But 1 mystery was answered today and that was why didn't the 400g of cooked rice fit into the cooking/serving bowl with a lid?

Apparently I have 3 such Pyrex bowls, not 2 and had found the middle size, not the large one! :giggle:

Ok

Could I ask you to post a picture of the bottles so I can wave it in the face of the lovely helpful guy at the Turkish shop in Auburn next time I’m there please.
I don't think these photos will help much.

The trick with the tahini seems to be a very fine ground sesame seed paste that is very thin, not the coarser stuff that Woolies and Coles or most healthfood shops sell.

The date syrup needs to be from a hot country that knows its dates. The crap that Woolies sells is horrible. This stuff is from Iran, but my dates are UAE, and also excellent. The date paste and date syrup is in stock on the website I gave you, but the smaller 500g tahini isn't at the moment. It will come back in stock in a few days to a week. The 10kg size is just a tad too big even for me, lol. But I did notice that there is a web address in the tahini which might be worth exploring...

Yes, I understand. At home I take pride in cooking everything, or nearly everything from scratch. It would be natural for me to explain that I didn't bake the cake even though I could have. I've never been a very good baker. I even took a culinary school class for a year to improve my baking skills. What I took from it was mostly an ability to bake bread. I'm not bad with bread but still not very good with pastries. Some things, like making puff pastry from scratch, I have never done since that class. I doubt many pastry chefs make it from scratch either.
