What did you cook or eat today (June 2023)?

So I spent all daylight hours out of the house yesterday, not to mention 2hrs in an MRI machine. That meant lunch out, but because hubby had a leaving do and he's the group leader, he had to attend, I had lunch alone. :(

So, all vegan as usual.

I started with the raspberry croissant and then had the nourish bowl. It wasn't as good as the previous time I had it though, lacking protein. Luckily I had some of that in the car in the form of a vegan protein shake. I carry one with me when I'm out all day because it's common for restaurants that are not dedicated vegan restaurants to fail on the protein side of life. Though last time I had the same bowl, it had been fine, this time it didn't have much protein at all (there's stuff hidden under the wheat).

That really looks good, though. I'd be all over it.

I participate in a product test panel on a regular basis where this company sends things for me to try and review (skin products, vitamins, food, etc.).

A few days ago they sent me some organic vegetarian Indian food to try. The food was precooked and in microwavable pouches (can be heated via stovetop, too).

I thought the Basmati rice was delicious, but I can't wrap my head around the idea of spending money on precooked rice when I can make it cheaper myself. I also liked the Madras lentils, which is totally surprising since I am not a big fan of lentils. I served it over the Basmati rice which was necessary because it was a bit soupy without. The Chickpea Tikka Masala I wasn't too crazy about (also served over Basmati). It was a little too sweet and cinnamon forward for my tastes.

And bottom line is that I wouldn't buy it on my own dime just because I am not into pre-made "convenient" foods!

Fettuccine bolognese.
That is what a friend is bringing tomorrow night for pot luck tea.
I'm doing garlic bread and samosas. With rhaita and tamarind.
My bestie is bringing???. Dont know yet. Possibly lamb curry??

Big night. Rugby grand final Canterbury crusaders (us) vs chiefs.( Waikato) north island.

I wish I knew an "old" friends dahl recipe. Man it was good. Her husband borrowed 800 off me and didn't feel the need to pay it back. Friends huh.?
