Beef with bolo do caco (typical bread from Madeira) and fried sweet potato chips, I bought two menus like these (included iced tea) for 14€. And now I'm drinking blackberry Sommersby and watching Dr House 😄

My meal for today is sizzle steak sandwiches with a baked potato ...

full.jpg

The sandwiches have sizzled steak, melted swiss cheese and pickapeppa sauce as the condiment.
The baked potatoes have cayenne pepper sauce topped with sour cream and basil flakes, instead of pepper.

It's been a very long time since I have had a steak as tasty as this New Zealand fillet (and it was probably ten times the price!). And the green peppercorn sauce was exquisite.

The fillet was pan fried in ELOO for 70 seconds each side then given the blowlamp treatment until charred. Left to rest for around 8 minutes. The chips were parboiled then air fried.

A decent vet could get that going again. 😄

Pork Chops in Batter. Not really pork chops, used loin steaks.

Basically Toad in the Hole but using afore mentioned steaks instead.

Sorry, no pics.
Cool! And how did you prepare the batter, if you would be so kind? Just dipping the steaks in the batter and fried?

No, it was more of a Yorkshire pud type batter.

So pre cooked the pork for 10-15 mins then poured the batter around the chops/steaks and cook till batter is golden and well risen, about 30-35 mins.

Saturday workday, and I took my kid along, I had a fried cheese sandwich, from a local little pub, I liked the green salad leaf and tomato slice, it had some mayo+ketchup and some pommes frites on the side...had a banana and some yoghurt several minutes ago, a boiled egg and a few slices of avocado sprinkled with a tiny pinch of salt and pepper, two slices of toasted corn bread, some mozzarella, which made me look up the sorts, there are at least 7 sorts of avocado, I did not buy the usual one, but it was ok.

I really really missed a stew the whole week, so I did a simple yellow bean pods right now, it is still hot and steaming...onion garlic the yellow bean pods, and some chilli ( I really like the moderacy of it, it zings but doesn't burn), seasoning...
On our way back, at the train station, I photographed those beautiful sparrows...
