I had to use Wikipedia to translate these ones. According to Wikipédia horse mackerel is what we in Portugal call carapau, and mackerel is what we in Portugal call cavala.Looks lovely. I never heard of horse mackerel... is it s different fish from the usual mackerel?

We have bigger horse mackerel - the kind shown in the photo is usually called carapauzinho or jaquinzinho, it's a smaller version of the fish very well suited to deep frying.I have to go research, Certainly the fish in your photo are much smaller than mackerel here.
Went off to look: They are not the same as mackerel in the UK but a type of jack or trevally it seems:
