Coq au vin blanc. From Casseroles, St Michael's Cookery.

Happy anniversary! To be honest, I have never thought of having an anniversary cake. My wife and I have our 26th in August, though, so I have some time to think about it.
Thanks. We've always thought of food/nice meals as (the main) part of the gift.

But, what really matters is that you are OK with your situation. There is absolutely no reason to feel any pressure to get into a relationship because you think this is what people expect from you.
^^^ So much this!!!

Nice cake. On our anniversaries, my ex-wife baked a cake. I bought diamonds and sapphires. We each had our own role to play -- 50/50 split, right?

That's one area where I'm lucky - MrsT cares naught (or is that nowt?) for jewelry or clothes or much of anything that way. I don't even know if we've ever exchanged anniversary gifts, it's always just been a very nice meal out.

Just a pile o' snacks, with some of that potted cheese (which is wonderful - cheesy with a definite bologna flavor; not sure where that's coming from):

MrsT said, "I love that dip sh!t!" - I point that out as getting a good laugh for those international members who may not know that "dipsh!t" is an oft-heard insult around these parts.

We used to go to a resort hotel near Dallas for our anniversary. The best was the year we went to the Four Seasons resort, where they held the annual Bryron Nelson PGA golf tournament. Instead of the main hotel rooms, we stayed in one of the bungalows by the pool. Friday night we ordered room service, which was outstanding. We started Saturday with full spa treatments, then hung out by the pool. Dinner was in the restaurant, where we had a fantastic meal, and the chef prepared a dessert plate for our anniversary -- on the house. Sunday, we took a drive to Forth Worth with the top down (my Miata), and went to the World Class Kimbell Museum (Architect Louis Kahn) to see the Monet exhibit there at the time.

And yes, there were diamonds and sapphires involved.

Dinner today at a Mexican restaurant in Royal Oak. The highlight of the meal was probably Portabella Esquites (last pic) a blend of Mexican street corn, beans, cheese, and Portabella mushrooms.

But, they were incredibly stingy with the meat in the tacos. It’s hard to tell, but the first one shows the shrimp that they gave my wife on her tacos. It looks like they took maybe one shrimp and cut it up to spread it around. She ordered a side of shredded chicken to fill out tacos tacos, which turned out to be a good idea. The second one is beef brisket, but again there was a microscopic amount of meat. The taste were there, but there just wasn’t that much of it.
