What did you cook or eat today (October 2022)?

Had to take the rest of my knives in for their yearly see-to, picked up the other ones I’d dropped off earlier, and as promised, MrsT came along so she could try Five Guys, which she loved.

She didn’t have any fries and just had water to drink, so she was able to stay within her points today.

I made bread dough for tomorrow morning and I put dough in my oven to proof better and I preheated the oven to 500 and forgot about the bowl in there already. 😭
It won’t make you feel any better, but if you bake bread long enough and you also use your oven as proof box, you’ll do that sooner or later. I know I have.

Buffalo wings for dinner tonight. I was going to smoke the wings, instead, but all of my grills are covered with tree sap. I'll need to wash them with some car soap and a lot of elbow grease. If I use them before washing the sap off, it will bake on, and be much harder to get off.

So, I deep fried the wings, and tossed them in Buffalo sauce (Mix of Frank's Red Hot and butter).

Even with the smell of fresh baked bread, I still can't get rid of this burnt plastic smell in my kitchen.
Bread looks great!

The burnt plastic is from the bowl you left in the oven, right? You could scraping out as much as possible (assuming it’s in blobs) then try running a cleaning cycle.

Of course, it’ll stink the house up with that plastic smell something awful, but it’ll eventually go away in a day or two. Otherwise, every time you turn that oven on… “Here comes that smell again…”

Yea, I scraped it all out and I'm in the process of reseasoning my cast iron, so that time and heat should hopefully get rid of whatever is left.

Roasted Butternut Squash Soup for Mom and my deep freeze, for later consumption.
But I did have to taste for seasoning, delicious with the Pepitas
edit - I roasted the Onion halves along side the squash - nice and sweet.
