I thought it was fine, and I’m someone who doesn’t eat fish, apart from tuna salad sandwiches and fish and chips (and the batter is my favorite part).Was the fish "too wet" being that size? I've always had better luck with thinner cuts of fish, it seems to balance out the "fish to batter" ratio better for me.
We still mention that with respect to Kate. She always got bits of bacon, steak/chop trimmings, and whenever we have that, one of us will eventually remark, “You know, Kate would have loved that!”I am so used to giving him the bits of fat and scraps that I still felt the impulse to put my plate on the floor for him when I was done.

My preferred thickness of fish for either battering or coating in breadcrumbs; around 30 mm.
