... it's a rif on a Southern dish ...Nice, but I don't see it as a southern dish...maybe in the SW? Not in the SE, that's for sure.

I had to look that one up, but no ... and the rif that I'm referring to on a Southern dish is pretty popular... "very Soul satisfying"Is this a well known dish? Being in the UK I'm not very familiar with Southern cooking. It looks similar to Monterey chicken but that isn't Southern...
I can't even imagine that I lived in the SE US for 35 years and have no idea what that is.I had to look that one up, but no ... and the rif that I'm referring to on a Southern dish is pretty popular... "very Soul satisfying"
Yes to the bacon, sweet red bell peppers and cheese; no to the rest.
That's definitely not a southern thing.Bacon, sweet red peppers and cheese pizza.
CORRECT!!!You have to bear in mind I'm no expert in Southern cooking. But I've looked up all the well known Southern chicken dishes and can't find anything similar. It was a good education though!
How about smothered chicken? I'm sure this can't be right as the recipes I've seen don't contain the ingredients you mention but I'm clutching at straws!
CORRECT!!!

`Member now, I said a rif on a Southern Dish.
I got this recipe from another food forum, one of the membership posted their dinner and I was over the Moon in love at first site!
A Different Sort Of Smothered Chicken
I added the Mushrooms at her suggestion.
Now I purposely make extra so that we can have as a sandwich as well as on a dinner plate.
And MG, isn't wonderful to learn new things about cooking? DH thinks I'm nuts, but I do so like that.
Yeah, I've never even heard of it, much less seen it, LOL. But then again, most people from China have never heard of General Tso's chicken, either!I'm stunned! I guessed by accident/luck really.
