Earlier this week ground beef 80% lean was on sale for $2.99 lb so I bought 9 pounds of it! I also bought jalapeños and other stuff. Making chili. Yes, it has beans but not heavily so.

MrsT had a doc’s appointment and asked if I needed anything from the shops while she was out:

“Sure, Kroger was out of fresh dill yesterday. See if Dorothy Lane has any. You’re very near there.”

She came back with dill…and

I did stock up on some canned food.
Conciously, I know people have survived on extreme foods and in extreme conditions, but I felt like a Martian really, buying these and trying to imagine what life would be eating these unheated, out of the can, I just refuse to imagine that, for now. But I feel the need to prepare.
Then I unloaded them and though, ok where will <I shelf them, and then, I do not need to shelf them...so they are kept in two textile bags, because ...if and when, they would not be eaten at home.

And no fruit? for days? Oh mercy. And I know, we would be grateful to be alive, fruit would be the last worry.

I do not want to go that mental lane.

Mostly the titles are in English...the pates are pašteta.

What else would we need?

Oh yes, sweets for the kid. Water? There is no way I can carry all that. Ridiculous.

I think granola bars and dried fruit and meats. If you have to carry a lot of things, they should be light weight.
That is a good idea, yes, water tablets. Will look up.
Yes, indeed. I do not remember how my body reacts to granola bars, long time I ate any of those. Yes, cranberries, dates, almonds. Meats without keeping them in the fridge? Even salami, is it safe to eat those?

There are some shelf stable salamis and cured meats that I have purchased, so yes, but over here in the US we have jerky, usually made out of beef. It is very salty usually, however. But it can be kept at room temperature.

Let's hope you never have to find out. I am thinking you won't. The Ukraine invasion is going to run out of steam and Russia will not be able to afford to reach any further, IMO. I am no expert on the situation and this is just a guess, but I really do believe you will not have to worry about it. But, I do always think it's good to be stocked with emergency supplies for other situations that may arise.

Also if you ever have the time, it's not hard to make your own granola, and you can control the ingredient amounts. I used to make it for my hubby, and I like it crumbled over my yogurt with fruit. Healthy snack for kid, too.

Thank you. LIfe is still as normal as it can be, but ...I really do not want a third world war.
We are 600 km away, but the thing flew it over in less than an hour.
it is basically where I pass by en route to work, 20 m from it. Nearby is where I jogg and walk. It is in my hood.

I do not want to comment in depth, it is really not my metier to do so.
