What produce/ingredients did you buy or obtain today (2025)?

I made my trip to Le Marche Vietnamese/Thai grocery store today and glad I did! The owner, Lan, came out to help and when I told her I drove 40 miles to get to her store she had to take me around and show and explain all the products. No way I can remember all that! We walked around in there for a bit over an hour. 👍

I spent a months worth of grocery budget... 🤷‍♂️

Got some frozen steam chicken buns, galanga, some whole mackerel and most important, the kaffir lime tree leaves. Lan said in the summer she'd have fresh galanga and that's okay. The frozen ones are better than the ones I haven't had for 4 years!

No way could I pass this up...

Couldn't resist the black rice @ $2/lb. and a bag of whole coriander seeds. A new bottle of Phú Quoć fish sauce. Some fresh green Thai chili's; can't get the red ones until summer. Lychee drinks; it's been years!!! Yeah! Some pickled ginger, and yep it has dye in it to make it pink. Some tamarind that I don't have to process into paste. 👌 And lastly a tin each of a recommended brand, Maesri, of red, green, and yellow curry paste.

I can't ever resist a large jar of Black Bean Garlic Sauce or kimchi with bubbles!!! The palm sugar was a whim and the shrimp paste is needed for making curry paste. Lan wouldn't sell it to me unless I smelled it first... Strong isn't a word; it's like fish sauce x10 with a mix of catfish blood bait. I said I'd take it. 🤣 Also got the sealable tubs of the curry paste. Those are the ones I'm used to getting when I lived in Las Vegas.
