What produce/ingredients did you buy or obtain today (2025)?

Well hopefully they like it.

Just googled it and it's basically corn meal, so you don't like corn bread made with it?
Correct..

It's generally made into a very stiff porridge. And eaten every single day and every single meal
I can eat it, but its tasteless, gluey and heavy. I rather have rice

Yeah I had seen the typical way of preparing it and it didn't sound appealing, but over here it's typically made into a cornbread. Just wondering if you'd tried that. Also cornmeal pancakes?

Beef was on sale, I didn’t pay that. Same for the cereal and the tea. Mascarpone will figure into my pancrepes tomorrow.

Cheese, fish, and potatoes all on sale.

Apples on sale, as were the raspberries (which will also end up in my crepecakes tomorrow morning).

I am assuming that these are from Latvia, but I'm not certain... I can't read some of the can nor on their website.
All I know is that DH what nuts-o for these.
His lunch today was fresh pot steamed white rice, little fish-ys on top, along with chopped white onion, Aloha Brand Shoyu aka Soy sauce and Furikake.
DH: How many of these cans did you get?
Moi: Six, but you just ate half of a can
DH: Do we still some of those other canned sardines?
Moi: yes, why?
DH: You can donate those to the local Food Bank

Umm, now they're on my list too... 👍

Needed some tamarind but the Morrisons version is poorly rated. However I love that they’re selling more Asian and Indo-Asian ingredients including 👏

It was the Morrison's tamarind that we used to get when we lived in the UK. I'm guessing by poorly rated you mean not many people have bothered to give it a review? Because in seeing 2 people have given it 5 stars. So would I by the way.

Ah no I wasn’t clear enough. It’s the Morrisons pre-made jar of tamarind paste that’s got a stinky review. I’m happy to try the block. It the first time the block showed up from a search, maybe they stopped selling it for a while.

Good luck with the block. I tried this once and decided I didn't have the patience for it. It was the same brand.

It is painstaking, I agree. I had about 750gms of tamarind in the fridge yesterday and decided to make tamarind chutney. Soak, rub to release the fruit, rub a bit more, add more water, strain...
There's a distinct difference between the block and the ready made, (I buy the ready made when in the UK and the USA), but it's probably not worth the PITA of having to process, unless you use the stuff weekly.
