Plans today involved the Eiffel Tower, a Disney store visit for MrsT, and a kitchen store visit for moi

That spot is considered highly instagrammable, and it was hilarious to watch all the 20-something influencers with their pet photographers in tow while they all lined up to do exactly the same thing - stroll confidently into the shot from behind, walk about 10 paces, then just a confidently turn around and strike a pose. One after the other, that’s what I watched a load of young women do. 🤷‍♂️

Seeing this critter was my favorite part of the day.

Up, up and away… 🎈

I love the Underground like a tourist attraction, but I much prefer Paris’ Metro signs.

One of three Mora window displays. The second one was all copper pans and the third was all baking-related.

Ok, some postcards for MrsT’s wee nephew who is obsessed with getting mail (🤷‍♂️), a bottle of white wine vinegar for my hair stylist friend), and a fish spatula for me (though I don’t cook fish), and I couldn’t resist that miniature Peugeot pepper mill.

The socks…on the morning we were leaving home, I remembered I forgot to pack socks, so I went back and grabbed my first pair…and was immediately sidetracked.

When we arrived here, I realized that I’d packed the one pair, so I needed socks. MrsT came out of the Disney store with a bunch of pins (she collects those), no shopping bag, and since I’d left the reusable shopping bags we’d brought from home in the hotel room (which I’ve done on every single trip since 2007), I had to buy a shopping bag from a souvenir kiosk (bag pictured above), and he had some socks, so I bought two pair of those. With the pair I wore, a rather thin pair they gave me on the plane, and the pair I packed, I can just get through the trip.

Fish spatulas are great all around spatulas. I have a couple, and they are my most used spatulas.

Well - I can only say I hope you enjoy standing in queues for many, many hours.
Well, I do feel spiritually very British indeed, and you all do make queuing up for things a national sport, so…

Seriously, it’ll be a last-minute decision, based on how long it is.

That’s why I got one. Every chef I like at some point heads said to just use fish spatulas and forget about the others.

The plans for today are a lunchtime river cruise and an advance scouting of the train station for our move to Bayeux tomorrow.

I’ll say this - I don’t know what the deal is, if it’s remnants of covid or what, but I’ve never seen a city this quiet at this time of year. Streets are almost empty, at least it feels that way, and we stood on the bridge next to the Eiffel Tower yesterday and watch tour boat after tour boat leave with maybe 20% capacity filled, and no lines to eat, cafes are maybe 30% full, tops, no crowds in the shops, nothing. The only busy place has been the trains, and most of those have been tolerable.
