Our closest one is 45 minutes. We usually go once a year around Christmas.
We haven´t been since before covid, it´s not our favorite place. But we need some good firm pillows so I can actually sit at my desk without intense pain. And we´re getting some of their food from their store of course.

I have a handful of furniture from IKEA. Not the big stuff, like my leather sofa, but the side table next to it is from there. It is simple, all black, all steel, and just does what it does. My dinner plates are IKEA 365. They were cheap enough to buy two sets of 8 places, so I'd have extras for when I break something. I keep the extras boxed up in a closet. Plus, they are very plain white. I like that. 16 place settings, about 80-bucks total.

Well, we made it to the train in time. Should have been 2.5 hours drive, it was nearly four.

The irritating thing is, the transfer company called us yesterday to ask if they could pick us up early, and we said no, because we need time in the morning to panic-check the room six times before we check out, and to tend to…ahem…nervous stomachs.

The thing was, he never told us why he wanted to pick us up early. He told us today it was because of the pollution ban, so they have all the roads into the city blocked off, and you have to be let in one at a time, if you’re allowed (we were, as the transport is like a taxi).

Had he said he needed the extra hour because of that, we would have agreed. Nope. Instead, he waits until we’re in the car and tells us about the ban and that we may not make it, “That’s why we tried to pick you up early.” 🤦‍♂️

Regardless, we’re here, checked in, about an hour before departure (which to us is the same as being 30 minutes late! ).

Goodbye France…

Yeah, yeah... nice pictures. But, how fast did you go??!!!

They had a rotating display of info up, the one time I noticed it, we were going about 150mph.

A lot of body roll the whole trip, but very smooth, much like taking a trip in a Buick Roadmaster.

We are off for a walk and a picnic today. We don't seem to have been taken by the mass hysteria that has come over Britain in the past few days.
We’ve cancelled housekeeping for the room today, as we just got here last night. We’re holed up in the room right now, though I did have to go and get an envelope of little milks for our tea supply today. No fridge in the room (well, there is a fridge, but it’s literally screwed shut).

We’ll be out walking around off and on between breaks watching the service on TV.

Welcome to Britain.

Are you anywhere near the action today?
