Plans for today (2023)

Got to make a start of cleaning the house and tidying the garden for the house inspection on Thursday.

And I've got a long recipe to make on the BBQ outside (Palestinian upside-down rice). I'll cook all the veg at the same time for the ratatouille as well because it's much the same veg and the BBQ can handle that quantity.

Then I've got to get some sleep in. I'm knackered.

Plus I've got a paid test knit to do, so I'll need to finish the sock I'm on today to be ready to cast that one on tomorrow.

And I need to wrap the vegan handmade chocolates for the advent calendar. Taking them out of the box just isn't the same.

And I need to shape the vegan Camembert and blue cheese and set them maturing somewhere...

And get a load of washing on,

Plus I need to get the carpet in hubby's office/study washed today because it's the only day he's not at home and he's walked chook shit into it and is home tomorrow & Wednesday in theory..

I'm sure there are other things that need doing as well today, but that's more than I can actually get done as it is.

Oh yeah, write the Christmas cards and several birthday cards to get them into the overseas post. That really needs to happen today as well.

That really needs to happen today as well.
Your day is wearing me out just reading it. Contrast it with my “busy” Sunday painting (which I technically haven’t started yet and it’s near on 4PM):

Up, make coffee, browse the internet.

Have more coffee, throw together the biscuit dough. Fridge that while I make some bacon.

Make biscuits, eggs, have breakfast.

Inventory painting supplies, figure I can’t be bothered, go into town and just buy nearly everything fresh. Stop at grocery store as well.

Back home, have lunch while watching TV.

Clean bathroom as step 1 - and honestly, how a bathroom gets so cluttered up and dusty and full of hair is beyond me. It’s MrsT’s bathroom.

Come back out, have a banana, noodle around on guitar.

Go back and tape off bathroom.

Come back out, have an apple, noodle around on guitar, and type out this nice post.

And that’s where I’m at now. Next step…actual painting!

Mow and blow the backyard, patio and driveway. Gotta' get the acorns off the driveway, I'm tired of hearing machine-gun-like popping of acorns as I run over them in the car.

Quick run to Walmart for a couple of items.

Small load of laundry, so I'll have clean clothes for packing when I need to make a short-notice trip to Houston.

Hopefully whip up an entry for the Mayonnaise challenge.

I’m planning to paint my bathroom over the holiday break (I’m taking 3 consecutive weeks off work, can’t wait), but I’ll be much slower than you.

Clean one day, tape next day, paint the third day. Second coat the day after if it needs it.

I already have most of the supplies. We touched up the paint in the bathroom at the cottage (we had to fix some gouges in the wall) and obviously have a ton of extra paint left over since it was just a touch-up.

First, I’m envious - the two weeks we just had is the longest I’ve ever been off work in my life (apart from when MrsT got sick, but that was hardly a vacation).

Second, I’m pleased to report the bathroom is half-painted - I remembered the furnace guy is coming tomorrow bright and early, so I want to straighten up the utility room a little and vacuum the carpet in the living room.

Now we're off to a birthday party for my wife's uncle. He's 93 today :hyper: :hyper::hyper::D:D:D
Just got back. He's as bright as a button, but gets tired easily. He sat there all afternoon, cracking jokes and having fun. God bless him.
We had a marvellous afternoon and, we needed an outing like that!

Well it's 5pm and I've done what's crossed off.

The carpet has been deferred to Wednesday in hubby's office, but I have cleared the crap out and freed up the space in they're to do the carpet.

I forgot the washing, but we've a week off dry weather, so I'm not worried about that.

I've had to cook in the house, the BBQ is now on the list of stuff being cleaned. There's an Australian solitary wasp that it's larvae young are parasitic to spiders and it uses mud to imprison these spiders. It needs 2 sides either at 90° to each other or parallel to each other at a set distance. The lid on the BBQ was just the right distance for it to set up about half a metre of mud for little prisons.... I've had to dismantle the BBQ. the chooks are doing the clear up job for me, I'll clean properly tomorrow.

So I've an hour before hubby gets home. That sounds like Christmas card writing time to me.

I got half the bathroom painted.

I was thinking of my plans for today, I’m off work, and first off, the furnace guy is coming to check things out, and I kept thinking, “Oh, I’m going to go up to the Target in Kettering, I need a couple of things and I haven’t been there in a while and there are a couple of people I’m friendly with there, so I’ll say hi to them, and ohhhh, that ‘50’s-themed burger place is right around the corner, I’ll have that for lunch, and the gourmet shop is on the way back, I can stop in and get some egg nog on the way back home, and I kinda like that bartender who swears way too much in that little village pub I drive by, maybe I’ll swing in for a beer and tell her merry <bleeping> Christmas, that’ll make her laugh, but it sure seems I’m forgetting something somewhere, I just can’t shake it…”

All this was as I getting up out from the bed this morning and getting the tea going, and I got to looking for the sweatpants I’d had on the day before, walked into the main bedroom…then saw all the painting stuff sitting there, the dismantled towel rack and bathroom mirror leaning against the bed, and thought, “Oh right…I gotta finish the bathroom!” 😠

I’ve worked at the same employer for over 15 years now, so I’m lucky I accumulate vacation time at a pretty fast rate. I’m also lucky that we get a pretty generous amount of vacation time (especially for this part of the world).

Finally, I’m lucky that my boss is a big supporter of taking time off and unplugging the work brain. He’s terrible about taking his own advice, but I’m glad he’s supportive of us taking our vacation time. I take every single day I’m entitled to.

I can't imagine you wearing sweatpants, at least not out in public.

For painting, but…in true Tasty fashion, I got tired of slipping on the bottoms of the pant legs while climbing around the tub, toilet, and sink like a monkey, that I took them off and ended up painting in a t-shirt and a grimace (‘cause I don’t like painting!). :thankyou:

But yeah, it’d take a lot for me to wear sweats in public. :headshake:

Get some lumber and supplies to replace another section of fence.

Get some black pants to replace the ones that have "shrunk" over the last few years.

A quick stop at Kroger for a couple items.
