Plans for today (2023)

We were planning to drive about 2-1/2 hours over to the Christmas market in Carmel, Indiana:

Carmel Christkindlmarkt

but the weather has other plans. It’s fine right now, but the whole drive back, in the dark, is expected to unload buckets of rain.

I can drive in the dark…I can drive in the rain…but I can’t drive in the dark in the rain. :headshake:

Alternate plan is to run down to the posh mall (seems to be the only indoor mall not only surviving, but thriving), just to mingle with the Christmas shoppers and have peppermint hot chocolates and see all the decorations, etc and have lunch out somewhere, but MrsT is even poo-pooing that idea, so who know? 🤷‍♂️

I need to go to the Mall in Frisco, to see if the Hickory Farms pop-up store is there this year. I also usually get an angel tree or toys-for-tots gift for a young boy.

Indoor malls in Texas are a mixture of very successful, and failures. The one in Frisco is doing great. It lost Sears a couple years back, but so did almost every mall on the planet.

Plans for today,
  • Water plants and certain areas of soil chooks use to cool off in hot weather. They'll not use it the day we wet it, but in the days to come, they will.
  • A trip to the tip (green waste and recycling that won't fit into bins)
  • Buy the Christmas 🎄
  • Make evening meal
  • Ring mum
  • Ring brother
 
We need to make the marinade and put beef roasts into it for sauerbraten for Craig, and I need to start some bean sprouts for fried rice.
 
Already got dinner into the slow cooker, so I’m feeling quite smug and accomplished.

Rest of the day - laundry, cleaning, football. Not necessarily in that order. Might work on my cross-stitch a bit. We got the tree up yesterday, we’ll see if we have the energy to decorate it today.

Back to my mom's today for a visit. All the big stuff I needed to do is done.

No football games for me today. My Steelers 💩 the bed on Thursday night. :facepalm:

I watched that Thursday night game and remember thinking “CD isn’t going to be happy with the outcome of this one!”

I think the over/under was 30, which reflects how bad both teams are at scoring.
 
3 loads of washing to be done before wife gets home.
Pizza dough today if I have time.
Picking raspberries. Kids got strawberries yesterday.

Been watching football since 3:00. Didn’t even cook today. Ordered sub par Domino’s. Reminds me why I never order take out.

Dug these out today to dust and tune. Sitting in the middle of my small hang out room. 60’s Gretsch Progressive Jazz…thinking of trading up for something else…

My Slingerland Buddy Rich kit looked a lot like that. If I ever buy another kit, it will be a DW kit set up like a Buddy Rich kit.

I’m going into work…thought I was pretty much done with that, but there’s a whole story there that maybe I’ll share later.

MrsT is off to Carmel, Indiana to the Christmas market she missed last weekend - this will be her longest solo drive (2.5 hours) since her stroke in 2013, but it should be fine.

She’s got a niece who lives very near there, and that niece is having a birthday party for her youngest (maybe four?), and MrsT’s sister and other niece will be there, so she’s going to have a little mini family reunion and spend the night there before heading back tomorrow.

I’ve also got to buy stollen on the way home today, and goodies for the Boxing Day gift-giving sort of thing we do.
 
It is raining here today, so I am doing some sorting and bagging of things to go to the charity resale store.

I am going to get a self-storage unit in January, and move some stuff into it, while I sort it and sell off some stuff I don't want, and toss things I can't sell. I want to thin out the stuff in my house, get some repairs and painting done, get the carpets cleaned, and that kind of thing. I need to get a bunch of stuff out of the house for that.
