Plans for today (2023)

Plans for today:

✔️Take down all of my Christmas décor from way atop the garage cabinets (too high for just one person-it was a two man job that DH wasn't real happy with :giggle: )

✔️Decorate the outside of the house for Christmas (very pleased on how it all turned out. DH kept asking, "what are you going do this year?" Dunno, gotta pull everything down, look at it all and then figure it all out)

✔️Picked up a take-out dinner from the Asian Bistro (too tired to cook anything)

I knew I wasn't going to make any thing but a bowl of cold cereal so ...

✔️Handmade Christmas Greeting Cards ready to go

Now I just need to drop them in the P.O. out box ...

I'm a bit pooped, but I ain't no spring chicken, don't cha know!

Get some lumber and supplies to replace another section of fence.

Get some black pants to replace the ones that have "shrunk" over the last few years.

A quick stop at Kroger for a couple items.

Got the fence stuff. Got the black pants.

The stop at Kroger was a waste of time. They didn't have the prescription ready that they said was ready last week. The produce I needed looked nasty. So, I left there with nothing and went to Walmart.

I need to move my prescriptions to CVS or Walmart. I'm going to have to eventually, once my local Kroger goes out of business. I figure six months. There were maybe ten customers in the store when I was there.

And to be honest, they should all be dragged before International Courts of Law and obliged to give at least 1 month's vacation per year.

I thought you were a conservative? Republicans here would call you a "woke" socialist. Only business owners and corporate executives are entitled to long vacations (and big salaries, and big bonuses). Hey, Amazon just recently gave their warehouse workers bathroom breaks. Woke!!!

I need to move my prescriptions to CVS or Walmart.
When we first moved here, we set up our prescriptions through Kroger.

First prescription, mistake.
Second prescription, mistake.
Third prescription, dangerous mistake, and when I pointed it out, the pharmacist gave me a load of crap and blamed it on me.

Fourth prescription, CVS, no issue. Been with them ever since.

I love our local CVS pharmacy - they all know us by name, when I pick up, I don’t have to tell them our names or birthdays, they know us that well. We talk about vacations and dinners out and holiday plans, and they remember from one conversation to the next (“Hey, haven’t seen you, then Shannon reminded everyone you were both on vacation…how was the cruise?!).

They’re fabulous, every last one. We give them a big tray of locally-made gourmet treats every year at Christmas.

There is a CVS directly across the street from my local Kroger. Walmart is even closer to me.

I used to love the Kroger pharmacy, and the whole store. But, HEB and Walmart are pummeling them, and the store has gone downhill in a hurry. The Gen-Z pharmacy clerk today, who I've never seen before today, also inferred that it was my fault my prescription refill wasn't there. I should have come in for it last week. I didn't it was there, because the text messaging notifications no longer work. She said I must have blocked the Kroger pharmacy text messages. 🤷‍♂️

I'm off to my Dads to help him set up a new bank account and try to disentangle his joint account with my mum before another lost wallet finally falls into the wrong hands. It'll be fun as his IT skills are close to zero so fingers crossed he can actually log into his account 😂

Then I have plans for two really nice looking bits of skirt steak that were subbed for the ox cheek I'd ordered, they also accidentally delivered a bag of chantenay carrots so I'm thinking a traditional wintery casserole would be good.

Ohhhhh, back to work today, and I know I have a lot of crap waiting on me, and with the holidays, I really don’t feel like doing any of it.

MrsT is back today, I pick her up around 7PM, I think. Would you believe I’ve not gotten her a single thing for Christmas yet?

Have you cooked skirt steak before? It is very common in TexMex cooking (fajita is actually the Mexican word for skirt steak), and it can be tough as shoe leather. I have not mastered the art of cooking it, yet. But, if it is cooked right, it is really good (meaning if it is cooked by someone other than me).

Busy day for me. I need to go to my parent's bank, then on to my dad's room to pick up most of dad's belongings (a charity is picking up the rest next Wednesday). Lot's of phone calls to make, too.

There is a lot of stuff to do when someone passes.

Skirt steak is one of Venezuela's favourite cuts of meat. It's used to make "carne mechada". My internet connection is totally screwed up today (I think the gardener accidentally cut the phone line :hyper: ) but when it gets better,I'll post a recipe.
As a very reluctant beef eater, I can tell you that not only have I cooked it, but also enjoyed it.

As I have two large nice looking pieces in the fridge I’d be interest to try that.
