Plans for today (2024)

Making a pasta challenge entry…which one? I have ingredients for two.

Also getting the bird feeders put out.

My plans have changed and truth be told now I’m a bit grumpy!
I bought four loaf tins exactly the same size as a lasagne sheet (noodle) so I don’t have to fiddle about making them the right size, and a spatula exactly the same width as the tins for sliding the lasagne out without pulling them apart. This involved super geeky research which I love and when I found the right tins and spatula back in November I was excited.
Life happens and today was the day my nerdy little plans would come to fruition 👏

The mushroom stroganoff is made, the bolognese is made and.. they have disappeared!
I mean really disappeared. I have pulled my kitchen and utility storage to pieces, it’s now a right royal mess here and I have no lasagne to show for it!

I’m going to have a coffee, some espresso fudge ice cream and watch some junk tv while I grump for a while! 😠 😂

Today I'm going to subscribe to a weekly newspaper so I can digest the worlds woes in one chunk at the weekend, then at the end I can have another cup of tea and consider the weekly recipe.

Thinking of replacing the 20mins+ a morning I spend depressing myself on the headlines with 20mins of tv comedy 🤷‍♀️

Off to see my Dad to pick up the LPA's that everyone has hopefully filled in correctly. I imagine there will need to be a redo as the chances of five people filling it in correctly are limited, and there will be a mountainous tirade from my pops on the incompetence of others 😂

Fix my kitchen that looks like a disaster zone cos I couldn't find the above tins.

I did find them in the end (I was staring straight at them 😝) and the lasagne is ready n waiting for Whimsy Wednesday 😊

Off to take the kid to gym, then on to the supermarket to buy some ingredients. got to spend the day cooking today (what a surprise) because I'm taking some Indian food to a restaurant tomorrow.

Got beaten up and robbed by the tiny Thai terror who said the price is £55 not £50 for the massage 😂
Went to M&S to pick up an order and buy some treats (fudge, dark chocolate rice cakes and Mr SSOAP an apple turnover).

Bumped into one of the mums from my boys old school.
Didn’t recognise her at all (which irritated her greatly) then when she asked me if I saw anyone else from school (and the penny dropped) I accidentally blurted out “No I didn’t really like any of them very much” she laughed a lot and I dumbly (but honestly) added “well it was like all the parents were still in the school playground as well wasn’t it” 😬😂

Back home now for a bit of whimsy Wednesday, some tv and some lasagne in front of the fire 👍

Three loads of laundry - towels, clothes, sheets.
Made Tartar Sauce to accompany tonight's fried fish.
Rouse's is a regional market that opened a new store less than a mile from my house. I have shopped Rouse's for a number of years at a store about 5 miles from my home. The new store opened two weekends ago. Lots of Grand Opening specials. I am a very happy camper having Rouse's in my back yard. We shopped two Saturdays ago and again yesterday. Goodby Albertson's and Walmart. OK Walmart for a few nonfood items. Albertsons for sales.
So I need to prep my fish for frying tonight.

Plans for today included an 8 hour blackout, while the electricity company replaced a transformer.
Fortunately, it rained, so they called it off.
In the afternoon, I went to a friend's restaurant where he has insisted I'm going to do a "Four hands Cooking" event with the chef (who is from Finland) . Chef is a French-trained chef and absolutely brilliant plating dishes. He's a really nice guy, but I don't think he is very enthusiastic about pairing Finnish and Indian dishes. I tend to agree.
That would be like asking Jacob Rees-Mogg to sit next to Mick Leach, or getting Donald Trump to dance salsa with Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez.

I’ve met the odd English man who enjoys cooking Indian food so you never know 🤣
