Plans for today (2024)

We all sampled the Christmas cider last night.
Have a whopping headache and just had to order some more blinking cider 😬😁

Am supposed to be dropping my BSA off for a service, then picking up Mr SSOAP's surprise rocking chair, then going over to my sons flat and doing a nice surprise 'spring' clean this morning whilst he's at work because he's stressed out about how dirty the kitchen is but is also too flat out to remedy the situation.
Also made Cobbler balls (meatballs in a cream sauce) and mash so he can eat something that's not noodles for change.

Of course right now all I want is my bed and some marmite on toast 😵
Anyone got some spare amphetamines lying about they can get to me within the next 20 minutes?!!! 😆

Take my jacket and shirt to the cleaners for an upcoming event requiring *that* attire and stuff my bangers. I've found that if I come straight out of the stuffer into a sink of water it works well. They float and curl into those rounds like you see in the store. Beats all that all over the counter or managing the links into a tub while you're still stuffing.
 
Youngest daughter and her husband are coming over for dinner tonight. I m making a seafood pasta dish with homemade pasta. I'm not sure how much pasta I have in the freezer so I might be making a fresh batch. I've got some light housework to do also. I have to run out for a bit this afternoon to get my prescriptions, drop off some blueberry muffins to a friend, and pick up some butter and a couple other things from the store.

Using sourdough starter discard...doesn't have to be made that way (of course) but I am always looking for a way to use up my starter discard as I hate waste. I have found lots of good recipes using discard. You have a new starter going, right? How's that coming along?

It's still alive. One of these days I'm going to do this again with it.

But that one uses yeast, I don't see starter in the recipe? I have found several no-knead recipes using starter...I haven't done it yet but I did make baguettes (before I got a baguette pan) and they turned out pretty good. I am going to do that again next week.

Correct. I'll be using the starter instead of yeast.

JAS_OH1 I like the flavors that develop with that process and I think the starter will accentuate those. My starter is 100% hydration so the math is easy too!

I went deep freezer diving yesterday and came up with the last Flank Steak I have *cough cough* I won't say what year it's from, so I figure I'd better use it 😊

I put together my own Asada marinade, it's really good, even if I do say so myself.
