Plans for today (2025)

Got a lot on today (Mr SSOAP’s first physio appointment, which will hurt) so I prepared a tray bake last night.
It’s from Diana Henry’s Oven to Table Book. It’s a pretty basic chicken, onion n garlic affair that you lob lemon zest on at the end but at least lunch is taken care of and everyone likes lemon chicken so 🤞
 
Saturday here and we have a new year get together for friends. (10).Wife organized who's bringing what. I'm doing sausages and salads. So a lot of prepping today.. I was up at 6 am so I'm looking forward to it.
Then tomorrow is family day bbq also. I'm still on strike but will do a salad. (15 mins).
Daughter will run the show tomorrow .
Theres also 2 x 10 race horse races that we will be gambling on, mainly trifectas.
So, busy weekend ahead.

Clean my granite countertops, vacuum, inventory another shelf in the freezer and see. Rainy out and supposed to last all day. Another cuppa right now though...

Got a click n collect at the supermarket because I need the rest of the ingredients for the peppercorn sauce.
Cooking up some more eggs, some of them to be devilled.
Picked up two fat rump steaks in Waitrose currently reduced to £4.33 (£14.44 a kilo) which is good value.

Cooking steak, peppercorn sauce, garlic mushrooms etc which will likely elicit an 80’s smile from Mr SSOAP.
Might do a prawn cocktail to start and some sort of 80’s desert to finish. He was banging on a bout banana splits the other day 😂

Steak au poivre with garlic mushrooms, onion rings etc

But pud? Black Forest Gateaux or the Banana Split that doesn’t really go but he’d like that more. Or Baked Alaska, panna cotta, artic roll?!!!

Irish coffee or Dame Blanche as a finish?
Or just a nice glass of whisky or cognac?
Desert wine or port?

Port and desert wine. We were BIG in to those in the early 90’s 😂
Not familiar with Dame Blanche, looked it up, don’t recall it ever being a thing here.
Irish coffee though, that was Mr SSOAPs favourite.
Unfortunately booze is out at the moment until the analgesia is reduced 😞
 
Going into town with MrsT to pick up meds and some specialty grocery items she never mentioned when I was out all day yesterday. 🤔
