First day back and I am angry already, My colleague and I have an agreement that when 1 is off the other makes sure their desk is tidy for when they come back in, a few weeks ago I did that for her-this morning my desk is a mess.
The managers were in last Thursday-I switched the coffee pot off a short while ago, I am sure you can imagine the mess of burnt coffee stuck to the bottom, no one has washed the cups either, I am fuming...

We just got hit with the first outer bands of tropical storm conditions from Elsa. Hard pouring rain and gusts of wind up to 45 MPH. Her center is currently sitting over the western part of Cuba, right around Havana, so around 250 miles or 411 km from us.

It's going to cross Florida east and north of Orlando on Wednesday, but the wet side of the storm is on the right lower quadrant, so that means we'll get lots of rain for the next couple of days and so will Mr and Mrs TastyReuben if their trip on Wednesday is even still on.

I've been watching. Yes, you are on the "dirty" side, so you are going to get wet. The Tasty's flight may get cancelled.

That sort of stuff doesn't bother me, I like cleaning up, I used to do it at my last place. I didn't expect staff to clean up. My wife doesn't know that though. She cleans here, I cook. :)

It is an agreement between my colleague and myself to keep each others desks tidy for when we get back-we don't clean just keep tidy, nothing worse than having time off and coming back to a mess.

Tonight’s adventure: using a generator! We lost power, so I got to try this for the first time. Other times I thought I needed it, the power came back quickly. Not so today. And, temps topped out at 90 today.

It took me a few minutes to figure out that I needed the router along with the cable box to watch TV. We had it on for a few minutes, then one of the dogs bumped a cable and it went out. The same dog wants to play fetch (yes, in the dark).

We have a full tank in the generator, so we can last a while.

Oh…and, no recipes tonight.

Update: See that little red section? That’s the power company’s Power Outage map. Why is only my area without power? No idea. It rained for about 15 minutes and the wind knocked a few branches down, but that was it.

Helpful updates from the power company:

Status: A crew is being scheduled.

Cause: Will be determined when our crew arrives and assesses the damage.

This has not changed in 6 hours.

Welcome to the world of Hurricane country. I am currently trying to buy my dad a new generator. His old one quit on him, and at 89, he can't pull start one, anyway. Due to the current supply-chain melt down, the push-button start Honda I want to get for him is not available.

Well, at least your house didn't explode, like that one in Warren.
